I wouldn't call it claustraphobia - lifts and the like don't bother me. And I like the isolation. Its more to do with thinking I'm gonna get stuck in one of those tiny spaces, or there'll be a cave in and I'm stuck a million miles under ground where no one can reach meShok

I've been in a few caves, but always on tours, never alone - I once went to Newgrange and that was dodgy - about 20 people in a tiny room made of thousands of tonnes of rock and only a tiny little door. I'm the sort to keep my panic inside, so I wouldn't make a scene, but the magic of the place was lost on me!:gah2:

What sort of caving? Real potholing, rope ladders and Kendel mint cake? That's what we used to do before the kids came along and my uncle in west Virginia spends more time under ground than above if he can. He is on the rescue team and I know he wouldn't please dabout someone caving totally alone. He goes in a group of 3 usually unless their are mapping, then it can be up to 8 or even 12, but then they are above and below ground following unknown routes.

Most of my real fears have sadly come to realisation this year, as most of you know. I've always dreaded the knock on the door by a policeman. we've had a few late night 'We've found your stolen car' That's bad enough but when the policeman came it was when it was to be least expected. They found me at work with Christine and I phoned Philip's mobile phone for a policeman to answer it.
Philip's doing fine by the way-moved to the trauma ward this afternoon, so the hard work of getting him back on his feet starts. He is still on morphine/oxygen and fluid drip, but off the monitor and antibiotics.

I hate things without legs, worms, snakes and sadly I'm embarressed to say I find it difficult to cope with legless humans too. There is Philip with two legs but they aren't working!Aww

I kind of am like you with the legs Trudi. I think it's the mental conditioning of something not looking 'right' that gets you.

I've worked with cripples, those with cerebral palsy and other afflicitons causing abnormal appendages but lopped off limbs always make me uneasy for some odd reason. There really is no logical explanation either.

Glad to hear the kid is doing good. Tell him I'll let him drive the truck if he behaves himself and gets up and about on schedule!

Most of the ones i go to don't need that, when i start getting ropes and ladders involved my fear of heights kicks in underground XD.

We were all left stunned at work today. The boss employed Pat to cover gaps for holiday/my extra time out and busy periods.

She came running out of the warehouse today squealing, she doesn't like the foam chippings that pack the spaces in boxed deliveries. She was looking for more hairbrushes to put out to sell. I told her they were in a big box on the top shelf. She saw one box mark 'Hair' so she pulled it down only for the lid to open and cascade loose packing over her like an avalanche! She doesn't like the way it moves in a box and that it also hides things so you have to pour it out to see whats in the box. She says it smells like corn chips too which makes her feel sick, I have to agree with her on that one.
Poor thing, that wasn't even the box she wanted too!

I'm a bad person - rhubarbs post above made me laugh Bustagut- I'm going to hell!Diablo

My brother in law has a fear of suede, velvet, velur or anything of that nature - so much so that when his kids were babies, if they were wearing those fuzzyish baby grow things he would freak out if he had to touch them.

New fear- women in their late 50's who think they can wear bizaar wedding dresses, designed for young girls out to shock their new relatives.
If you are slightly on the plump side, please don't remarry in a strapless red dress, with a huge 'cumberbund' chocolate box bow on your rear and full train with little rosebuds sewn into pleats!
Also don't have 4 flowergirls (all under age 5) for an aisle only 10 foot long and not expect them to wander off to sit on their parents lap.
Don't have a Skype link-up with your poor sister in Australia and expect her to wait until 1am to see you drag your 84 year old father up the aisle dressed up like a dogs dinner in a Edwardian cravat and morning coat. Then also be up-set to find her huddled in her PJ's and Snoopy dressing gown and not dressed for a wedding sheepishly waving to the wedding guests when asked by the Registrar if she objected to the proceedings. She objected not being in bed.
