Tatties (mashed potato) and neeps (mashed turnip or swede) peferably together you philistine.

Mashed turnip?? wot

How the fuck else do you serve turnip?, sliced?

Well... the only way I've ever had turnip, was diced up in vegetable soup, like a potato. Turnip isn't that common of a food here.

yup. Just like mashed potatoes.

Aren't turnips kind of 'hot'... I mean, like horseradish hot? That sounds really odd.

You should grab yourself a slab of the dried apricot paste. It's like candy, good for you and lasts forever and great for when you need that sugar rush in the afternoon or late night snack. Fits neatly in a backpack but do watch if it gets cold. It will need warming up to tear it.

Matt's friend told him they call it 'sticky meat' and as kids we called it 'shoe leather'.

watch him say he hates apricots. Sad

I like apricots. I especially like dried apricots. I've been told they are cured with sulpher though, or something.... I don't know if that's bad though.

Turnips are rather bland, at least the time I had some mashed. You're thinking of radishes, maybe.

Hmm... I imagine I've eaten my share of tiny maggots then.

My grandmother (and great grandmother) used to do the same thing... soak the blackberries/raspberries overnight. I never knew why. I've eaten a lot of them straight from the bush though. Oh well. It's kind of gross to think about, but must not be harmful to humans.

More ground venison that I have to eventually figure out what to do with. I'm guessing it would just be 'a waste' to use it for hamburgers.

I might have to get that chili recipe from you.

Could be... but I know radishes are those little red & white things people like to put in salad (blech).

tripe IS the Cow stomach lining, my Mom made a great homemade veggie soup, all fresh veg. it was a meal. she cut up tripe into it, but we kids had no clue what a 'tripe' was and we ate it. it was rather chewy and bland. when my Dad was a kid in Italy often times were hard, so he was frugal and would buy tripe and other inexpensive stuff at the farmers market he shopped every week. a big soup bone had a lot of meat on it, so we'd have that too. i never felt deprived. we had veal and polenta a lot, veal was cheap! he told me when he was a kid they were lucky to have meat once a week.
tripe:
