Mandatory “Vegan Mondays”

Shok

The city of Cambridge in Massachusetts recently created a “Climate Emergency Congress” to make recommendations to the city council. As FOXNews.com’s Joshua Rhett Miller reports:

Going green will not be optional in Cambridge, Mass., if the Cambridge Climate Congress has its way. It will be mandatory.

... There will be a carbon tax "of some kind," not to mention taxes on plastic and paper bags. And the Massachusetts city, home of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will advocate vegetarianism and veganism, complete with "Meatless or Vegan Mondays."…

Denise Simmons, the mayor who created the “emergency congress,” explained: “While world leaders delay on taking serious action on climate change, the City of Cambridge, along with other cities world-wide, is weighing in. We know that time is short to deal with the climate crisis.”

Its the tyranny of the silly people. Reminds me of Prince Charles claiming we only have “96 months left to save the planet.” (That was in July, though, so now we only have 89 months left.)

Here are some of the Cambridge recommendations:

Encourage, and perhaps mandate, Cambridge food providers and retailers to offer local/regional food options …

Never mind studies that show local food is often more pollution-intensive than food grown abroad and shipped.

-- Advising higher levels of government to move towards more organic and sustainable agriculture practices….
-- Asking/mandating that local restaurants and schools institute "Meatless or Vegan Mondays" [Vegan means using no animal products at all, including milk and eggs] to increase community awareness and reduce reliance on meat.

You can’t make this stuff up. I love the “asking/mandating construct.” Do the enviro-nannies realize that there is a difference? Do they realize that there is a huge difference? I fear not.

A nice thing about local government is that when idiots take it over, its easier to move.

I agree about buying local produce though, just the cost of transportation and refrigeration (not to mention irradiation) to keep the stuff 'fresh' would be drastically reduced. And I'm not so sure about the pollution factor, many countries still use pesticides that the US banned decades ago.

Quote: * Imported produce was more than three times more likely to contain the illness-causing bacteria Salmonella and Shigella than domestic produce, according to the latest FDA survey of imported and domestic produce.

* Imported fruit is four times more likely to have illegal levels of pesticides and imported vegetables are twice as likely to have illegal levels of pesticide residues as domestic fruits and vegetables.

* Less than one percent of imported fresh produce shipments were inspected at the border in recent years.

We used to get "Jersey Grown" for years here and when Clinton started that Free Trade shit, we stopped getting local produce in our stores. I asked for it but they won't even consider it.

More of our fruit and veggies, and meat grown here in the USA is exported and we import most of what we eat now. I think the only thing left is dairy products!

My problem is the "Mandatory" anything. Don't tell me what to eat, drink, or do!

If somebody wants to go meatless it's their choice. If I want to consume animal flesh then sure as shit I'll do it and fuck you if you're going to tell me if and when I can or can't.

Just try and tell one of these fuckwits they are mandated to attend church on Sunday and see how ballistic they go. They'll claim it's not the same but it damn sure is. The only difference is that mainstream churches are accepted religions and global warming isn't......yet.

The entire global warming/cooling/climate change issue has BECOME a cult religion.

Is there climate change? YES! It's a natural process of the planet. It's been happening for 5 or so BILLION years.

Let's see now......Homo Sapiens has been around for less than a million years but the climate has been changing for over 5 billion years......yep, the debate is over, it's all man's fault.

Morons.

Let's apply their logic to something else and see just how fucked they are, shall we?

Some carpenters are seen in emergency rooms with damaged thumbs. These injuries are fairly consistent among all of them. A study is commissioned and "scientists" discover that these injuries are caused by carpenters missing nail strikes and instead they strike their thumbs. The conclusion is that it is the hammers that are causing the damage and that they should look into this further.

After years of intensive studies the "consensus of most scientists" is that hammers are the sole cause of the damage and that if we didn't use nails then there would be less hammer strike thumb injuries.

Since nails are mostly necessary for the majority of construction projects a "new" nail needs to be found. MORE extensive (read that as exPENsive) studies are commissioned and paid for with tax dollars.

New and "safer nails" are mandated by government regulations.

Still the problem persists. Now a tax on hammer use is imposed to make the act of nailing "safer".

Eventually as the problem continues activists call for the banning of hammers and "alternate methods" of nailing to be instituted.

Now more "natural" nailing practices are instituted and carpenters must use rocks to strike nails.

Result: An increase in thumb strike injuries.

Let's look at this "problem" in a less liberal frame of mind.

Carpenters are being seen with thumb strike injuries. Conclusion: BE MORE CAREFUL WHEN SWINGING A HAMMER!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I'm all for helping the planet.

If that stupid stimulus were given to every American homeowner and small building business owner for the sole purpose of changing their electricty over to Solar power, we would have solved one energy problem, several hundred thousand jobs and homeowners can sell excess energy back to power companies that will be needed to run large cities that can't sustain on solar alone.

Top U.N. climate change official Yvo de Boer resigned his position yesterday. Now aint that a kick in the head? Everyone screams to change but they can't even agree on how to get together to do it.
