Did anyone catch this on the Discovery Channel two days ago?

Man, what a load of malarky. We couldn't get past the first half hour. They dragged out two hours of some mumbo jumbo about the US Navy doing experiments that were killing whales and in the "mess" a mermaid washed up.

Now, if they were killing whales, why were no other sea creatures washing up en-masse as well? Why only whales?

Remember that big pilot whale beaching here and then some massive beaching of blue whales off the African coast? They say that was really some secret Navy weapon experiment. They had some sound weapon that destroyed the whales. Well, how the hell can you only target one species with sound? EVERYONE hears the sounds!

I dunno, click the link up top and if you bear sitting through the drivel, chime in on what you think. I still have an hour to force myself through.

The two "teasers" I watched looked like something from a really bad SyFy movie. Kind of a weird way to advertise what I assume is a serious look at the possibility of an aquatic ape or whatever they called it.

Remember when these channels actually had intelligent programming?

Yeah. We usually take a higher grade tv package just for the educational channels, but the programming is nothing but reality crap and when a special is on, it's so poorly constructed its unbearable to watch.

Well, the channels are marketed to the public, so it is expected that through free market principles that the channels will become utterly shitty to net the most viewers. Most viewers are morons anyhow.

That aside, I would like to mate with a mermaid if there ever was one.

There's fewer and fewer decent programs on the "education" block. Hell at least some of their (as I term it) mindless reality stuff is ok. Shit like American Pickers, Oddities, Sons of Guns, Storage Wars and Pawn Stars fall into that category.

Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers, Ice Pilots, Swords - Life On The Line and Coast Guard Alaska are what I term actual reality shows and are quite good.

Anymore when a program on Discovery, History, TLC etc says "......and with global warming......" I change the channel.

I saw the trailers for the mermaid program and thought the same as Twilla......looked like a bad B grade movie trailer to me. Just due to that I didn't even bother to watch it.
