I've seen both the Avengers, and The Raven.

The Raven was alright for a general entertainment show. I wouldn't say it was entirely creative, but the details in the plot are excellent, the actors did well, and they captured the period perfectly. And I didn't put much thought into who it was they were looking for, so I won't say it was predictable -- I only found out at the end.

As for the Avengers, just go watch it. Iron man and the hulk pretty much dominate the show, with the hulk being hilarious (especially when he gets a hold of Loki, I laughed for about two minutes). I really enjoyed the movie overall.

I read a review on the Avengers and it stated that Martin Downey Jr. proved to be the best character of depth, with the Hulk second. The rest of the characters were more or less fill-in. Ever since Downey has gotten his act together, he has really come on strong. Iron Man 3 should be as good as the others too.

Robert Downing, Jr., you mean?

Oh yea, I liked the scenes with the Hulk the most as a personal preference, but yea, Downing's acting and movies are just getting better over time.

Ugh the both of you are wrong.

Robert Downey Jr.

and yeah, that man aged very, very nicely. I'll watch Iron Man over and over just to look at his hotness.

what I liked about The Raven was that John Cusack came out of his "usual" character. He played Poe well and I enjoyed that. I always liked him as a character in whatever he played, but the last few films it's been the same type of character recycled and tweaked for the part. This was refreshing. He even spoke louder than his usual "whisper" and he slowed it down. Nice.

I'm glad I didn't wind up sitting through a double feature. My back is SCREAMING and I was up all night in pain. Those theater seats wreck me every time I go.

That looks close enough for Gubmint work. Wink

What amazes me is that with all the drugs he tried out, he didn't manage to ruin the biggest organ in his body: his skin. I've seen some who did that, and looked like they were staked out in the desert sun for a week.

I'm even surprised he still has a job as well, not being a certified Jackass.

He's working because he's a very good actor and makes the studio money. That's the bottom line, not politics.

Alright, let me address both comments:

First, the saying "That's close enough for Government Work" is as old as......well,.....government. It means that while it may not be all that accurate, its still close enough, because its good enough for government.

And you haven't heard of this saying before? Talk about leading a cloistered life.............

Secondly, Downey is still working in spite of the fact he is not a bed wetting Jackass. That really says great things for Downey, because if you are not a bed wetting Jackass, you already have two strikes against you in Hollywood, or whatever they want to call it.

Am I wrong here...................................

Not sure about that political view vs working in Hollywood theory. There are plenty of actors who lean right and openly that are working. I know in the past some have been given a hard time but I think it's slacked off. The bottom line is still $$ and who's going to be bringing it in.

Plenty eh? Can you count the number with the fingers of both hands? Go on, give it a whirl. And remember, Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, Kurt Russell, and perhaps a few others, are Libertarians, which puts them in a class by themselves.
