We had Chevy's and Dodges all our lives as a family. Impala was the favorite family car and mom learned to drive on a Dodge Lancer. I've had lots of others, one Datsun that the body was so rotted the engine fell out while I was driving to work! My ex used to get me some real shit bombs. But we started buying Fords for no particular reason after I was out of the house a few years and we just had good luck with them and kept it going.

You know, we had an old Dodge 100 panel truck that the shine faded off on the paint. Was exactly the same model truck that Gravedigger is. Man, you couldn't kill that thing and we surely beat the shit out of it! We had so much fun with that - we'd stuff a mess of us in there in the back on lawn chairs and drive down the road where they had the avenue all torn up for a year's worth of sewer work. We'd drive really fast and the back doors would pop open and you can bet a dollar someone would bounce out the back!

It was my ex's work truck and on weekends we'd empty it out and do fun stuff with it. Used it for camping once too. Took our queen mattress, stuffed it in the back with supplies and hit the Pocono's. We got quite a few stares in those "family" camp sites too!

You could wet your finger and 'write' on the van too. Someone put swastika's and wrote Meat Wagon on the side once. We scrubbed off the swastika and kept Meat Wagon for a long time.

That old Dodge 100 probably had the famous old slant 6 in it. I've seen those actually still start up with a rod through the side of the block.

The fuel strike has been called off so sanity has resumed.

Mark queued for 20 minutes which wasn't too bad considering some people were still queuing for fuel at 2 in the morning!
The Fire service protested the idiots who run our country suggested everyone stored jerry cans of fuel as a back up.
Then a lady was on the news for decanting petrol in her kitchen.........while cooking dinner.........Ambu

For some reason I have it in my head it was a straight 6 - either way, it was the 6 cylinder. And yea, you couldn't kill that thing. I think it was a year or two older than the model Gravedigger is. 62? 64? I can't remember. I know it wasn't older than that decade though.

I had no idea you guys were under a fuel strike Trudi. And WTF why would anyone bring gasoline into the kitchen at all! Crazy old bat.

I don't drive around much any more, unless it is business related. Then I do my personal things while doing business. Saves gas.

I buy my gas at Sams. And I am expecting to have a Shit Fit when I go to fill up next time.

I'm sure that old Dodge panel had the (nearly indestructible) 225 slant 6.

I'm pretty sure that was it. Had a 3 speed manual shift on the column.
