This is a motorcycle my grandpa used to have c. late 50s/early 60s. He ended up crashing into the side of his favorite bar through the door.

Anyhow, can anyone help me identify what kind of bike it is? My mom doesn't remember.

You know, it looks like an old Harley. I had a great book on the history of Harley Davidsons from the first bike they made. Gave it to my grandfather as a gift because as a kid he used to hill climb with his brother on their Indian. For some reason, that book was not even in his house when we cleaned it out after he died. I was pretty pissed. I wanted to recoup that book.

I don't think it's an Indian because the fenders are their trademark and that time era. The bike looks older than the '50's / '60's you say though. It looks more like a WWII era bike.

It has a suicide shifter on the tank!

Maybe Trudi's hubby can identify it? I'll poke around and see what I can dig up too. Nice bike. Too bad it's not around for you to restore.

Mark says 'It's a Honda 50cc' Wink

He says it is an early Harley, but he isn't really sure. He would have to ask our friends who are Harley nuts.

Not an Indian, like TK says. Ok

It's shame you haven't still got it lurking in the back of the shed, it would be worth a bomb!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a late '40's Harley. I just don't know which model.

My friend Pam had a friend who collected all kinds of old bikes. Kind of like that antique car barn over there in Europe. He had some of the earliest bikes HD ever made - the ones that used to look like bicycles and many from the old wood track racing era! I tried and tried to snag a few off him to restore to original but he wouldn't let them go for anything. He died and his family rendered them all as junk and scrapped the whole garage full! idiots

Sadly, he got rid of the broken down hulk.

I used to have my Dad's old wrecked Triumph, but that went away too in a move we made during my childhood.

Late 40s Harley? Thanks for the links, guys.

Damn, that Triumph would have been another great restoration project. You could dress like Fonzie Run
