Ancient Human Found in Iowa Sewers

Human remains that could be 7,000 years old have been found by sewer construction workers on the southeast side of Des Moines.

The remains were discovered in January.

They were found near a site where scientists think people harvested, cooked and ate clams thousands of years ago.

State archaeologist John Doershuk (DOHR'-shuhk) told The Des Moines Register that it's "a rather unique site, not only in Iowa but in the Midwest."

The site's exact location is not being disclosed, lest looters ravage it.

The discovery and archaeological dig is delaying a $37.8 million sewer project for at least six months. It's estimated the Wastewater Reclamation Authority will have to spend an estimated $1.5 million or more because of the delay.

I always wonder how many times the guy running the dozer sees stuff like that and just says fuck it, and don't let it ruin his day.

I dunno Twist. Bearing in mind that the average blue collar worker has a conscience I'd say that unless the operator is a true asshole it doesn't happen too often. That is of course if the operator is paying attention to what they're doing.

Rather interesting find. I wonder if they'll unearth any more remains and artifacts?

I'm afraid if I unearthed an old indian skull or something I would just brush it off, put it in my lunchbox and keep diggin.Skull
Then I suppose zombies would come and eat my brain because of the curse or something.
