My trek mountain bike has some ugly welds on it too, made in china like everything else.
But usually the frames are guaranteed for life, so nothing to worry about.

I was told today the new Cannondale's are not made in the USA. You have a rare bike according to them. I KNEW that was a bunch of bullshit about the welds! I didn't pay attention for 21 years when I was married for nothing. Unless I go and take the bike apart and smooth out those welds myself and repaint the bike, I'm going to have to live with it.

They don't make the Rincon in XS which I need. So we settled for the Revel (why they pronounce it reveal is beyond me but I refuse to sound like an ignoramus) in black and red.

I test rode the Rincon in a size S but although it was a little too big, OMG the balance on that thing was astounding! I Heart that bike! Too big and all. I didn't test ride the Revel because it was 2 sizes too big. I know it will be fine in the right size. I Heart the shifters too! And I gotta tell you those disc breaks are sweet. That bike stops instantly and without drag.

Next week we should be able to put a deposit on the both of them, get them ordered and layaway until the Christmas bonus Matt gets to pay for the balance.

I just "liked" Giant Bikes on FB and put a discussion on how to age their bikes. Let's see what they say. The guys in the shop had no idea and get this... they had no idea Cannondale and Trek marked their bikes either. In fact, they had no idea how to tell the age of a bike and didnt' think anyone marked their bike models. See? Now to me, things like that should be the norm and I think that not marking them is abnormal and it surprises me that they wouldn't be.

As for those welds - it's a matter of pride in workmanship IMO.

I was told the frames are guaranteed for life so, yeah, I'm not too worried. I'd just be happy to see people take pride in their work and do things right.

Those are probably machine welds from china. They won't rust or anything anyway, as long as they hold together.

Cannondale made their frames here for many years. The bike shops are just now selling off the last of the new USA made bikes. I'm quite sure mine is not rare, but I wanted one that was US made, just to have it.

Tons and tons of good info and discussions here. ^^^
I'm twisteroo, although I rarely post, but I read and look at pics.

It looks like a bargain. What idiot thinks only front brakes are OK? This person must not have done any serious hill riding to think only the fronts are good enough to stop the bike. OR... this idiot is too stupid to change the brakes and took a header when he/she was on a downhill run and that was one header too many? Rofl

Today your day off? You're not supposed to be posting now Tongue

I'd cheap him down. If he's too stupid to know how to change out brakes or know that you need both to stop safely, he'd take $34 easily.
