Well that was a waste of 2 hours 45 minutes.

The effects were awesome but the story was lacking.

Humans are greedy.
Humans are awful.
Trees are good.
Tree people are good.
Human who "jacks in" to tree people mutation of self stays behind because he loves tree woman.

I was hoping for more originality.

I just watched this too. Yes the storyline line was a tree-hugging event. Cameron even said it was a "green" movie and was proud that it was.
I thought the guy also stayed behind cuz he got a new set of wheels.

Anyhoo, I liked this movie better than Crazyheart. I am not sure what the academy finds appealing about people who are so freaking defective. It is a drunk, country singer. Ummmmm-please tell me how this is a good or original story? OK-now I highjacked your thread, but since I did has anyone else seen it and what did you think?

I didn't see Crazyheart and now that you say it's about a country singer that's all the more reason not to watch it. Country music is depressing enough without making a movie about how depressing it is. I don't need the visual, thankyouverymuch. My mom crammed that shit down our throats all our lives and i just can't stand it. Granted there ARE a couple of artists I enjoy listening to but I can count those on one hand.

That marine in Avatar was a total ASS HOLE. I couldnt' stand him from the get go. He gives this whole speil about how "once a marine always a marine. you can't take the dicipline out" blah, blah, lying blah. He was the most insubordinate Marine I've ever seen! Arrogant and stupid as well.

I knew he was going to stay once he got legs but falling in love was the "bonus". If I wanted to see a love story I'd rent one outright. Don't sneak mush in with your action movies!

You're right about the marine. Also the "bad guy" was a caricature not a character. C'mon, did he really need to be sooooo over the top? Gives the movie even less credibility.

I did like the special effects so much, that I enjoyed watching it. I just ignored the stupid storyline.
