Sadly just before 2 AM MaryPat got up to go to the bathroom and then get something from the kitchen and discovered our little Eskimo Spitz had passed away. She was only 6 years old.

2 days ago she miscarried (we didn't even know she was pregnant) but seemed to be doing ok.

She was a bit mopey but she had just lost babies so it was understandable. Yesterday she was kinda depressed but sociable at the BBQ. She really didn't want to come inside last night as we readied for bed but I brought her in.

She refused to come back to the bedroom (not typical at all for her) but we figured it was again just her being depressed. In the past when kittens had passed away she acted the same way.

The trauma and stress must have been too much for her. Bruce (our Aussie Shepherd) is just now realizing that she's gone and he seems a bit lost.

Goodbye little white dog. Rest in peace.

Very sad, Im sorry to hear about your Skittles.

Rescue another puppy both for you and the other puppy, it will help .
A resolution to avoid an evil is seldom framed till the evil is so far advanced as to make avoidance impossible.

What sad news, Hug to you all.

Do you know what happened? Was it the miscarriage or something that may have caused the miscarriage.
I love the name 'Skittles' and a beautiful dog too.

We are pretty sure it was complications as a result of the miscarriage. She was a little love muffin.

She was named Skittles due to the way she walked. She didn't so much walk as she "skittled" along.

She and Bruce (our Aussie Shepherd) were always together. Bruce seems a little lost right now and I expect he will be for a few days.

Thanks everyone for your kindness and support.

I think we often forget how other pets in the family react when one goes. When ever one of the Guinea pigs falls ill the others 'know' and behave and when they die the others are very sombre for a few days.
We will never forget how Spud pined away after losing our daughter, you would think so long as he was loved and fed he would have carried on, but he didn't, he ate very little and constantly climbed the stairs to her room and waited at her door. 10 weeks and he was gone.
