I thought about just putting like a briggs & stratton filter in it, but if I remember right those are just kind of a screen, so I spent the extra $2 and got one made for bikes, about 6 bucks. That other one was from auto zone or somewhere and had a paper filter in it and yeah, I figure probably made for stuff with a fuel pump. I drained the tank but I know there is still rust and shit in there, I will carry a spare filter or 10.
I just spent $40 for a honda filter, so it ain't gonna get no K&N. :p
I've been running sea foam through it, what do you think of that stuff LK?

Have you ever tried it and would you weigh more towards MM or sea foam?
I used to use marvel mystery oil in another bike I had, but it was newer and never did have any problems.
I don't know if I can get the baffles out of the pipes, they might fall apart. But I have been running the dogshit out of it every time I ride it.
It's not too bad now, just some slight hesitation under hard acceleration, mostly in 5th gear right about 45-50 mph. I might try cleaning the carbs another 3 or 4 times.....actually, I might look into a kit with new jets and stuff, but I think it's more about the little ports and holes and stuff where things have to flow through the body of the carb anyway.
I'll run it either way as I really don't expect it to make it all the way to the Pacific and back....nah, fuck that, it'll make it.

I am going like the last week of Jul first week of Aug 2012, I'm planning on running I90 out and then gonna meander a bit on the way back. I have no plans yet except going to Walnut Grove, and I figure I'll try for the west coast in about 4-5 days.
I figure I'll strap my tent, mattress, and sleeping bag, down on top of the saddle bags. One saddle bag will be for tools, one will be for a change of underwear and socks, and the trunk will be for possibles, and I'll stash all the contraband in the fairing.
I gotta find and grind that pesky VIN number off the frame before I go, just in case I have to kick it into lake Erie in Cleveland or something.
I thought about burning man, but probably wouldn't go to Sturgis even if I was going through at the right time, the only thing about Sturgis that I would even care about would be the boobies.
