Just found some pictures of the damage in Brigantine, NJ. That's the little Island just across the Absecon inlet from Atlantic City. I spent most of my summers growing up there and my dad lived there from the mid 70's until he passed away 15 years ago.

The bar that suffered the damage shown used to be owned by a friend of mine.

Where are the fucking riots and looting? God dammit. They have to be in existence somewhere.

How I made out,I finally got power back yesterday at around noon, house didn't take any damage had no flooding the pond behind my house filled more with previous storms. Just had power outage and I think it was a preventative thing, I think they didn't want the sub station energized when the flood waters would come in and destroy the equipment so it all got shut down early in the storm. My business didn't have any physical damage to the outside just alot of food waste I am calculating about 9k in food spoilage, then there is potential revenue loses which I haven't even begun to calculate but usually that never gets recouped by insurance.

For looting, I know some people were looting houses by the shore, only makes sense though in the eyes of a thief, if people are worth millions and own a beach house their has to be good undamaged stuff on the second and sometimes third floor of some of these beach houses.

As far as generators, I used mine sparingly for the most part, except from late last night into the morning.I had to use it all day today before power came back because of how cold it was, my fish in my fish tank were beginning to die because their water got too cold and not enough oxygen in water. I mainly cared about them living because I spent tons of money to get them to where they are and was not going to let cold water kill 5 years of raising them.
My neighbor next door about 80 feet away ran their generator for two days straight till they had to start rationing their fuel, two houses down on the other side that guy had his generator going 24/7 since the power outage. He only turned his off once the real power came back, didnt really bother me since I know some of these people are older and really need it and I would want the same consideration if I needed to run mine all the time. The generators actually helped me sleep because I hate total silence, I didnt run mine at night just because I didnt need it.

As far as gas I found a little gem of a shell station in allen town that only had a 6 car wait it was amazing and worth the drive. All the gas here is rationed in the sense you cant get your tank filled they were doing gas cans only and the police monitored it kinda sad and crazy. I heard alot of stations aren't getting fuel shipments for a while after they run out. If that happens shits gonna get real, people will probably get shot over fuel, I saw a guy get jumped for cutting a line of people waiting for gas. After the people beat the guy up for cutting the line cops took him away it was kinda awesome the level of justice delivered but sucked how stupid people have to get over fuel.

I call bullshit on the looting beachside. You can't get over any bridges due to National Guard on the bridges and you can't get in unless you can prove you live there. That is for ALL access roads to the outer islands. The only report so far for looting has been on Coney Island and there is only rubble to loot there.

In Brooklyn there is the usual low lifes posing as utility workers trying to gain access to ravaged homes but so far none have been successful.

The ocean is still spilling onto the roads but the lagoon backed off the road out of here that I took pics of a couple pages back.

Anthony, I lived in Jackson for 15 years and it does not flood like you describe. A couple of roadways where creeks cross over and the big bog on 527, but they always recede within a few hours. Unless all the new construction was done without regard to all the relatively new construction code for outdoor and building projects, I just don't see anything as bad there as it is here happening. If anything it would be spotty and in very low lying areas.

I'm watching the news and see my brothers house on tv and they go to break and its a fucking commercial for sending money to Haiti.

RE: Frankenstorm - Gunnen4u - 11-02-2012

You're assuming criminals use the roads, Twitch.

RE: Frankenstorm - Twitchin Kitten - 11-02-2012

Yeah, but it's impossible by boat too. There is nothing of any value there for them. There is no widespread looting. Sorry to disappoint Tongue

RE: Frankenstorm - Twitchin Kitten - 11-02-2012

I get a call at 4 AM by the power company telling me that my power has been restored. Yeah sure, on what planet?

The entire neighborhood has power except my block. My block is in the center of the neighborhood. How the fuck do they manage to put one block in the MIDDLE on a separate generator than the rest?

Finally Doomberg does the right thing: NYC Marathon Won't Be Held Sunday.

RE: Frankenstorm - AnthonyG - 11-02-2012

Your power issue might be a localized issue, damage to a line going into your block, that happened to my gf's block and they sent a crew out to fix the lines going into her neighborhood today and she got power later in the afternoon.
I didnt say jackson floods like crazy, all I was saying is where the substations are they can get flooded and they turn them off to prevent damage once water drains out they check equipment and turn the stations back on.
On the looting I know keansburg has been having big issues with that, but if you know keansburg it sadly makes sense. I know of a few cases in monroe of people taking other peoples generators, thats pretty ballsy but I guess if you catch the people off guard they dont get outside quick enough to stop the person.
On beach side the national guard basically let in the looters, not knowingly of course. Ill try to dig up the article cause I said the same thing when I read about it , that access in was limited but people would lie about residence get in and come out with loot from other houses. It seems kind of like a rich stealing from the rich scenario though.
