LOL Do you really think any of us has the attention span to to watch 7 minutes of video? Educational video at that? Crazy

edit: I forgot a word and added it in so the sentence made sense.

To quote somebody I know: I don't see the humor in my answer.

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twitchin Kitten - 05-08-2012

I didn't laugh at your "answer" - I took a jab at all of "us" on the site.

Joes Crab Shack = major rip off!

So last week while on the job interview with Matt, we were near the Monmouth Mall and saw they had a Joe's Crab Shack there. Of course we took the opportunity for crabs and a mini celebration because he had a good feeling about the job.

Anyway, don't waste your money for two reasons:

There is NOTHING on the menu under $25.
They pad the bill by adding more tip.

We order what looks like huge buckets of crab each. We expect the seafood to be expensive, but we figured the bucket would fill you up. NOT. Top it off they forget the butter. How can you forget the butter! The food wasn't very flavorful either. We ordered our crabs with garlic flavor. Hardly any garlic nor spices. Very bland and it was cold as if it were in the 'fridge within 5 minutes of sitting on the table. No exaggeration on the 5 minutes.

They put bibs on you. OK fine, but do they have to be hokey with King and Queen Crab written on them with magic markers along with the painted crap that advertises the chain? Oh and the stink of paint from the bibs was overpowering. I hate that. Probably full of lead made in China too.

PS - they try to sit us at friggin' picnic tables to boot. I complain and they give us a regular booth. I complain again because before I sit I notice the damn seat is FULL, and I mean FULL of grease and food bits. Table left something to be desired as well. It took six tries before I picked out my own table and asked if it is OK to sit there. eesh

Anyway, after getting a bill of $60.52 and leaving a (not that it was deserved) $10 tip, we leave hungry with the happiness of knowing we have some pie at home to fill the void.

Next time we go out for crabs it'll be at Bum Roger's again. More crab, better flavor and better price overall. There are about 20+ crabs in that plate.

Jesus, a $30 meal should have leftovers, not leave you hungry.

I'm not familiar with the crabs you're talking about. The restaurants I've been to that serve crab have either snow crab or king crab legs, and back in California, you could get Dungeness that were good sized and usually cracked and cleaned for you. I can't imagine 20 crabs unless they're the pubic kind.

RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twitchin Kitten - 05-09-2012

LOL... ok the crabs at Bum Roger's are blue crabs. They're small but you get way more than what Joe's gives you per pound.

At Joe's you have a choice of several crabs or lobster parts. All the 'big' crabs like you mention, Dungeness, Snow, King. I had Dungeness and Matt had Snow. I like King but damn, those spikes on the shells are a pain - literally. You get by the pound and neither of us had but one claw between us in the whole lot.
And jeez... garlic does not cost much. Toss it in there if you're boasting it's loaded with garlic! Bah. Bum's you go home stinking of garlic and butter and you bring home the stuff and eat it for two days.

This is why I hate chains. Local eateries are much better but sadly, they're getting harder and harder to find.
