Nah, the whole place is built out of like 1/2" X 4" tongue and groove.
Can you imagine what it would cost to build a house like that today? The outside walls and roof are like 1" X 6 or 8 " planks.
Even the attic floor is tongue and groove. I have even ripped up some of the attic floor and replaced it with plywood to use those boards else where. Like my back shed with those cat boxes.

I think those would sand down, and polish up nicely
The parts of my old farm house that were made from the old barracks of Ft. Dix had walls and flooring like that. It didn't have plaster walls though.

Nope, nope, nope.....just cover them with carpet and leave well enough alone. Way easier that way.
