No1 son had roadrash on the inside of his left thigh after his accident. No one can work out why just there, but it was right over the break on his femur above his knee. When they did the 6 hour op' to put pins and plates and screws into his leg the surgeon scrubbed the wound out 'during the break period' as it was put to us.
That was the Saturday and on the Tuesday they took him into theatre to do it again. His biker mates that have come off and got roadrash were really envious, all they got was 'locals'.

He moaned like mad about the oxygen vent he had shoved up his nose, but the hospital only used the full mask when he was in A&E and he wanted it back, but with that he was using too much oxygen and wasn't breathing deeply enough. He complained it was making his nose sore! Forget the massive amounts of pain relief he was on for his legs.

What happened to the bike? Aww
As if I need an answer, we never Saw No1 son's Fazer 600 again (well, hubby did- half of it, the front wheel was missing and the tank was half the normal size.
Did you spend 5 weeks in hospital like No1 son? Or more? His accident was at 45mph and the car coming the other way was doing about the same the police calculated by the mess.

Wow that was back in 1984, I remember tearing the motor out of it and storing it in a shed at my sisters house. I wonder if it is still there? The frame was left in a barn. I wonder if that is still there?
I do still have a side cover from it.
I really did love that bike. I spent one night in the hospital and was sent home with crutches the next day. I was battered and bruised all to hell.

You were really lucky!
I was pushed into a ditch on my bike by the local doctor the same year! Lucky it was a very soft ditch and my bike survived but my temper didn't. I gave him hell but claimed he was on an emergency. He was sorry a few years later when the same thing happened to him on his motorbike.

No1 son never saw his bike again after his accident, but he slid off his Super-dream and that is sitting in the shed 'waiting a repair'.

Yep, link works! I hope that thing is parked! It's hard to tell from the small image.

You can directly upload images here too and if you want if you put image tags around your link, the image will show Smile

Thats a picture from our vacation this past summer in North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We were attempting to drive up a VERY steep gravel incline with a mountain on the left and this seventy foot ravine on the right. The rear tire started to spin and lost traction. It headed for the side and when I knew I couldn't control it I told the wife we had to bail. The bike is heading off the side and I pushed the top of the windshield to get away from the bike. The shield snapped and I turned to grab the wife to get her off too. We were kind of standing there stuck in the sand and rocks. The bike stopped against a small sappling keeping it upright. I push the wife up onto the road with the bike and trailer stopped. IN the end the bike had a broken left mirror and the windshield snapped. We ended up finishing the vacation, got the bike fixed and came home. We were a bit banged up. My left leg was bruised from about my knee to the bottom of my foot.
