RE: Clutch stuck - Rhubarb - 09-25-2009 The camper is away in hospital It had to go to the garage in the end no -one could shift it. Mark looked in to see how things were going and the place was covered in the major surgery. The pressure plate is well and truly glued in with the rust, so its a new clutch folks. RE: Clutch stuck - Rhubarb - 10-04-2009 Ok So the Camper is fixed! Here is the damn clutch that created the problem. ![]() Can you see the rust. There is even more brown gunge in between the plate ![]() Now we have got to try to use it a lot more. I'm thinking we use go for Winter picnics into the forest and up to the Purbecks. Phil' Keeps escaping out of his wheelchair, so maybe he can hoist himself through the back door for a day out. RE: Clutch stuck - LKTraz - 10-05-2009 I've never seen a clutch DISC with rust on it!That must be semi-metallic friction material in order for it to rust. I hope the new one is organic. That would prevent the problem of it sticking. The rust on the pressure plate is no big deal as it shouldn't affect the springs from being compressed when the pedal is pushed in. Yeah Rhu.....you definitely need to use that vehicle more often, even if its just running a few miles down the road and back. RE: Clutch stuck - vtxcandyred - 11-16-2010 I've never in my many years of working on cars seen a clutch disc rust. I don't care whether its in a satly environment or not. I lived in Oceana Virginia in the Navy and had a car that had a stick and it never rusted. The clutch disc is made of fiborous material, just like a brake pad or shoe. It may have some bronze and or brass in it but that won't rust either. I'd say merry old England needs to up the anty and upgrade the motorists autoparts, by cracky! Two pennies on an OLD post! |
