That's the craziest thing I've ever heard! We never went over anything like that, still got my license. I don't think it would be that easy to balance a static bike. And below 10mph they are unstable.

That is the single most thing I practiced over and over. And let me tell you, that late 70's Honda 400 was not well balanced. I don't know if that sample in the video is correct anymore either, but I couldn't find a good video of someone actually taking the test. There was one with a scooter, but I figured why post it if the test doesn't allow anyway.

I gotta say, learning how to balance is good for me though. There was no way to get my feet flat on the floor at a stop on any bike. Short legs Giggle so balancing was helpful getting licensed. The A.B.A.T.E. weekend crash course does something similar too. I took a class where they taught you until you were fully comfortable, able and ready for the test, then they brought to the test.

Here's what Pennsylvania expects these days.

It's changed from what it used to be. Now it's easier than what it had been in the past.

Slow ride has to be at slow walking pace- between 0-5mph. I found the bigger bike was more stable to keep upright and kept to 2mph for the whole exercise. I would struggle on my 125, but can do it, I've taken it to the quay so often on a busy night. Slow riding is not my problem.

*That video was so bad!- That bloke wouldn't have got in the test centre dressed like that to start with...He scooted around with his feet off the bike more than on it- that slalom is a joke!
Er... best shut up about the rest.. Whistle

2nd vid' ---prat :p

This is the Youtube government video.
The slow ride is greatly reduced than the one on the video- the examiner likes to walk along side the bike. Also that is a smaller bike than I used but is the one I have been riding almost daily, my 125, so this rider was opting for the restriction license (under 35bhp)

Then watch the Mod 2, which is my next test once my operation has healed Rolleyes

This is the bike I used- and love! (in black)

Here, as long as you're wearing any shoes but sandals, pants and a shirt you're good to go. You do need a helmet to test but depending on the state once licensed you don't.

As well in any state you could take the test on this:

Then go home and hit the road on this:

Trudi, my video was some guy doing a demonstration of what the test looks like with non-standard issue cones. It wasnt' an official video from the DMV. I've yet to find one.

Maybe those that test should do a video- what they deem as acceptable gear,
also advertising dermatology units for skin grafts........... Local bike groups this summer are putting up photo's of kids being brought in by the emergency services on Facebook- to remind you what skin you don't keep when you bounce off at 20 to 35mph - not nice Ambu

You are right on that- my cousin Pete said he did just that- thought it would be nice to ride to work in the summer- shit himself first day. Took the bike back to the dealers and bought a Honda Civic. Haha

RE: Got it!! - Biker Dude - 06-04-2014

That Honda is a 750. Small by some standards. Fine for me as I don't do over the road trips, but some have to have the biggest available.

Want to see something amazing? Watch...

Couple of times you can hear him scrape. This dude is good. I've got another one about a guy that hit a dear and didn't put his bike down...
