RE: Bloody cat - literally - Twitchin Kitten - 07-04-2011 He is no longer stoned. He's back to his weird self. This vet has the worst handwriting I've ever seen. I can't read a lick of his description on the bill. They hit us big on anesthesia and the overnight stay. Thank God for Care Credit RE: Bloody cat - literally - Rhubarb - 07-11-2011 How is he now? RE: Bloody cat - literally - Twitchin Kitten - 07-12-2011 He's doing just fine! Toothless but he eats and is back to his normal weird self. Today Chucky gets his old man exam. RE: Bloody cat - literally - Twitchin Kitten - 08-12-2011 Well, Iggy is not doing as well as we thought. It appears his hemorrhaging tooth was a precursor to something more vile - a tumor. Had an appointment with the vet for 2 cats and I thought to bring him along. His face has been swollen for a week and even though I had been treating with antibiotics, it's not doing anything. Turns out it very well may be a tumor and that is what caused the smashed tooth. I was hoping maybe the vet didn't get all the pieces of tooth out and it infected, but the vet showed me that if you press the gums on his right side, they're soft and pliable as they should be. If you press the left side, it's hard as a rock and very painful for him. His eye is a bit bulgy too. So, although we're going to treat for infection and hope for the best, we realize it's probably a pipe dream. It'll cost me about $1000 to x-ray and test for sure and frankly, it's not going to make a bit of difference. The vet can't and won't operate for this thing and I wont' do it if he could. I think it would be torture to do that to him. So, we're keeping him comfortable and doped up on pain meds until it becomes obvious he's not happy anymore. Why is it that it costs the most money up front to find out your animal has something terminal anyway? I'm $2K in vet bills this summer! You can see his lumpy face on the left here. It looks like he's smirking all the time and his eye is constantly weepy. [attachment=1767] And here you can see his left eye is a bit thicker, cloudier and weirder. [attachment=1768] RE: Bloody cat - literally - Rhubarb - 08-13-2011 Aw bless him ![]() You're right there really is something there, the colour of his eye shows that in the photo. Photo's can show up things like that sometimes. My Great Aunt Dolly was blind in one eye. Mum has a photo of 4 of her Aunts together with my Gran outside the house after a visit, blue, pink and silver rinses in identical hair. I know which is which because the photo red-eye, 'doesn't' show with Auntie Dolly. RE: Bloody cat - literally - LKTraz - 08-14-2011 Aw poor Iggy. ![]() RE: Bloody cat - literally - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2011 I stopped the antibiotics today. It's just torture to drop him, wrastle him and squirt stuff down his throat and it's two weeks and it's not made a dent. Why torment him? If it's an abscess of any kind, then IMO, the meds are keeping it at bay and it would be better off bursting and getting all that out faster rather than later too. I don't think it's an abscess though. I'm just going to let him do whatever makes him happy and keep him pain free as long as I can. Gonna miss this cat too. He's so weird, so cool and the house peace keeper. Weirdo showers with me too. He never fails to crack us up with one of his goofy sleeping positions / spots. RE: Bloody cat - literally - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2011 This one got me laughing. Don't mind the 'schmutzy' tiles - that's that destruction from the floor polish showing. [attachment=1773] RE: Bloody cat - literally - LKTraz - 08-14-2011 You don't need to visit icanhascheezburgers.com. You have your very own LOLcat! RE: Bloody cat - literally - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2011 Yeah, I'll put a tribute to his weird sleeping positions after he goes. I think there may be an old thread in here somewhere with some of them already but I don't remember. Dig around if you wish. |
