RE: Before and after Mini Remodel - Rhubarb - 02-20-2011

You know paint companies do that on purpose don't you?

They sell just enough paint not to finish a job and the smallest next size container is always way too much for the job to be finished- so you end up with a 3/4 tin left over and cluttering up the garage Stirthepot

I like to have a little left over for touch ups and what not. If I have to repair something, I have the exact color. But this is nuts. I' got the outside door all prepped too. I'm going to squeeze the last bit out of the can and see what happens.

I did it! HA! I squeezed enough paint out to finish both doors. I forgot ONE TINY and I mean tiny spot that chipped when we hung the cabinets back up. I'll hit that tomorrow. Got a little more trim to touch up and I'll get pictures for you all. It looks really nice.

FINALLY! I got it all done and photos for you! Sorry that some are a little dark but I had to close the curtains to take a pic facing the back door. The sun is just too bright to keep them open for photos.

Thanks Jammin for the idea of a lighter color ceiling, I really like it.
When we need to re-paint rooms in the rest of the house, I'm going to do that to all the rooms.

OK here goes - click for full size image.

This is the cook-top with the new formica surrounding it. I see what Trudi means now about it being horrible there. You can see the swirls from wiping it down. You can't get rid of that either, even with a vinegar and water wash. The only way is to polish the backsplash and I wasn't up to doing that today.

This is the exact opposite of the cooktop, by the sliding door. This is where we have the shelf to feed the cats and the dog and water under it.

Here is the same view only looking toward the outside door -

And another view of the back of the kitchen

And my new "coffee station" Smile
All coffee, tea and hot chocolates are in the cabinets above. All the spices were in there but they are now in the thin cabinet next to the microwave.

It all turned out nice!!! Even though the space is small, it looks like you made great use of it and have a place for everything.

Looks nice, fancy smancy on the coffee station.

RE: Before and after Mini Remodel - PICTURES! - Twitchin Kitten - 02-22-2011

Not that fancy twist, but thanks Smile

Jammin, it's a tiny kitchen and I don't have enough space by a half a basement full! I've got the appliances I use often, oils and utensils and knives on the counter in the corner and everything else is stuffed somewhere or in the basement to use as needed.

I like it alot!

I just made more work for myself. See the view of the door? If you look at the room division at the ceiling you'll see a hook. I keep hanging plants there to divide the room and break up that wide open space. We added that short wall for that but it wasn't enough. Anyway, I'm going to take those hooks out and screw in a flat board. It'll put less holes in the header there and give me more ways to hang stuff in a straight line. For some reason, I can't get the line of hooks straight. The gap between the boards must be uneven due to the house being so old. This way with a board I can get those hooks in a nice straight line too. It's driving me insane looking at the uneven row!

I found a better solution! Gotta love Ikea for those weird things you can't find anyplace else.

They have a rail system for hanging all sorts of things on walls. Well, Hang one on the ceiling and I can put as many plants as I want with minimal screws into the header! All with nice clean lines to match the kitchen.

The Grundtal series on THIS PAGE will do nicely!
