Firefox has a setting that you can tell it to not allow the websites to track your browsing as well. check if Opera has that.
Safari has this setting in the Develop tab.
Omni does not seem to have it at all. Which sucks because I do like that browser and it's the only one that I can use to get the Verizon website to workk properly for me.

I found it on my Firefox, but didn't on Opera. I'll have to look a little closer, and if no, I'll go to the Opera forum and ask them.

Found an interesting article on Yahoo news today concerning tracking on the internet and how your privacy is not protected.
I hope they do pass some kind of legislation that protects our privacy. Maybe it will keep PI Trolls like Pat Mannix at bay as well. Yes, I know he's in a whole different category but if Congress gets involved instead of the "industry", maybe they'll extend it a little more so we can all feel safer and know that if our privacy is invaded, steps to stop those like him are much easier to obtain and take hold.

Oh it's awesome! Been using it over a year now and I am ad free, stupid shit free and more.
Sometimes on sites like your utilities or phone companies, you'll have to pause it and then un-pause it because the "submit" button wont' work. It seems to give the most 'headaches' on sites that are mostly scripting instead of straight up html, but it keeps a lot of crap out too.

just saw an article on 60 minutes about using facial recognition software to dox people on facebook. I wish I knew the program that they used. I think it was face.net or face.com or something but the server for that website is down.

Facial recognition does exist. When I was in the Army, I got to play with a handheld device that could recognize iris scans, fingerprints, or facial structures. It was to be used in identifying people at checkpoints among other things in the middle east.
Could be easily used here of course...

As do I. Mostly fingerprint scanners for laptops and iris+palm scanners for secure server rooms.
It's sad how easy these things are to fool though. And how low tech you can do it.

When it comes to finger prints, on the crap scanners you can use a photo copy of the finger print to fool the scanner. For the better ones you do a reverse moldof a finger in latex and it defeats almost all of them. Iris scanners can be tricked easily as well, except you need time to make the replica right for the better scanners. Facial recognition can be fooled with a prosthetic mask like movie make up artists make.
