Are you going to wind up keeping them all or fostering and trying to find homes?

Yes to all of the questions! Doh
Most of the breeders I know about have agreed to stop breeding until the 'bad breeders', are ousted. There has been two big rescues recently with about 100 guinea pigs in both.Swoon

I've agreed to take on two of Liz's boars so they can some get more attention (she has 60 plus 15 from the last rescue). I'm possibly helping Jenny out with a family of mum,dad and two baby boys. Liz will take the mum and while I'm over collecting her boys I'll pick up dad and the baby boys. I have a possible home lined up for the babies and I just see how it goes with the dad. It would be nice if I could find suitable homes.

No1 son went to the 'Family Picnic' today and he was telling his cousins children about the piggies and showing them pictures off his phone. He asked me what I thought about Sasha children adopting, I just said 'forget it'. Urma is the only sensible one in the family and she's only 4! Her 12 year old brother, Louis should be put in a cage and the key lost. Punish

OH! Biggrin
Guess what happen tonight?
Stratos and Cooper are hutch buddies Smile
They have been running about together in the garden run happily, and I mean really happy. Stratos hasn't stopped 'popcorning' and Cooper started too. When I went out to put them to bed (give Cooper a bath tonight) there they both were in the tent cuddled together. So they both had a bath (Stratos couldn't see what all the fuss was about, Cooper hates it).
We set the indoor-Condo up and they both went straight in and shared a bowl of bran and are now tucked up in the baby duvet dozing, together Biggrin

I wish I could take a photo but it would disturb them.

Have you tried Pet Website on adopting some of these out or have you not been there in ages? CavyKaz may have some connections for you if she's still on there and if not, I have her on my skype although I haven't chatted with her in ages. I'm sure she'll be ok with me having you contact her.

RE: Stratos and adoptions - Rhubarb - 09-12-2010

I haven't been there in ages. I kept getting lost on the site.

Ought to try again I guess. I said hello to Kaz on Facebook very briefly on FB but I never thought to ask her to be a friend Gah We were talking babies I think not piggies.

As it is I went to see Sue who's kids pestered and pestered and she gave in and took them to Pet at Home. They have two dear little girls. I went over to see them tonight and Sue showed me the setup they've got. I am well impressed, Fox proofing, wonderful foldup run and really good quality hutch.

I'm doing my 007 bit tomorrow, I only have a few problems with the place I've been asked to check out after talking to her on the phone. I'm going on my bike because her partner is a biker and she talked bikes for the first 5 minutes! I had to remind her why I'd called.

Photo's in the camera. I think Stratos is the top pig (as in he has been doing a fair bit of humping) Cooper is so settled- he didn't chew the Run at all today.

Well- Sarah and Martin are a nice enough couple. I am so surprised the neighbours haven't said anything about the house though. I decide dif I was really desperate I still couldn't let my boys go there to board for a weekend.
Where do I start.... the hutches weren't clean. She said they get cleaned tomorrow after the binmen have emptied the bins. They had empty bowls. She said she was just popping out to the supermarket to get their veggies (although she knew I was coming at 7pm), she was waiting for a delivery of bran and nuggets. They only had straw in the hutches. Some hutches had 3 in and were too small. While I was there I saw two guinea pigs chasing each other around- not settled hutch buddies. There was one pen with two rabbits and two piggies in and her VET said it was ok. It was a big pen, but outside with a wooden box straight on the concrete. It gets cold at night now.
Three piggies were so dirty (I commented how sweet they were and could I see them) when she opened the hutch she took them out and put them into an empty hutch flat on the ground and shoved a handful of hay in with them. She gave me one. She called them the Witches of Eastwick, one had one eye and the one she gave me no eyes! Poor thing needed a good brush, it couldn't clean itself, but was very happy to be handled. I looked it over and discovered it was actually a boy....

It's very hard to turn around and be polite in these situations. I would ignore her and then say they got adopted by the first "lookers" the day before you saw her.
