I have been looking further North and have made some plans. There are 20 acres that will go with this and I am just waiting on a few things like where to build and how cheap the land will be. I also want to be able to work part time and would have to sell a ton of stocks just to build it. But I am within 4 yrs of owning my house now and I need a bigger one soon. 2.5 bedrooms is not cutting it anymore and I hate the local town Government. These are just the house plans and I need to settle on a plot, I would like a Southern exposure but have not liked the last 3 lots I looked at. I did like one but it was so far out the wife said hell "NO".

That's a nice house LH! Big porch, 3 car garage and a breezeway connecting the two. You need a pool, fence in the yard, or at least one acre for privacy and so you can let the dogs run safely Smile

You can get ponies for the kids on the other 19 acres.

Momo. That's funny. I will spread that slang for you in my 'hood.

This housing market is frustrating. I see all kinds of lovely houses w/ land I can afford now IF I didn't already have my albatross of a house hanging around my neck. It is worth fully 30% less than when I purchased it. Plus, we just had our first forclosure in my neighborhood, so that will screw up my home value even more.

LH, that is a lovely home. My next home won't have more than 3 exterior stairs. I don't want to be 80 and lugging groceries up the huge flight of stairs I have now.

Fortunately houses around here are holding steady in their worth. My house is worth twice as much as what I paid for it ten years ago and IF I sold it I would make a profit on it. The problem is they're not selling. No one is buying.

Count your blessings, we are effed down here. My friend's neighborhood (starter homes $199,000) are selling out of foreclosure for less than $60,000! What do you do with that? I am trying to figure out how I can get out of this mess, but I don't see a way. I have family in the USMC and I want to be with them on the coast, but I'm stuck. I'm trying to rathole money so I can sell and take a small hit if I have to. There are so many builder closeouts (my county waaaaay overbuilt, it was one of the top ten fastest growing in the entire US for a few years), it is hard to sell a pre-owned home. Half of my neighbors are redneck assholes, so I am considering becoming a Section 8 rental. hahaha

I feel cheated. I worked hard, minded my own business, raised my family, invested in homes, etc. Now I am effed. Totally feel let down. The American dream is a nightmare in my neck of the woods.

On the gossip track, they found a 73 year old former state senator and her husband dead in their homes. Murder-suicide, they think. That's sad.

If you can tough it out through this recession you should be OK in a few years. Yeah, I know it sounds like an eternity but that's what we're doing. No choice really. If we sell now and sock away the money it's only going to be spent and then we're stuck renting forever.

Don't section 8 your home! You'll regret it. you need to allow for repairs and maintenance and if you think you're broke now, wait till the welfare renters get hold of your house! So not worth it. The liability alone on your part is not worth it either.

I can tough it out. We don't have a bad life. I just HATE feeling trapped. I'm an independent kind of person. Feeling trapped makes me want to chew off a limb and run for it.

I live under an Air Force flight path. Sometimes when I get off work, I hope my house has been completely wiped out by a jet and that my pictures, antique dining set, computer, and Chihuahua all survived. THAT is dysfunctional.
