Well, since we have the dumpster here I decided to finally do something about that stupid pink bathroom. I should have taken before pics but these are good enough.

I don't want to tackle taking down all the tile and re-tiling, so I ripped off the fixtures and wallpaper.

The light and medicine cabinet & light were supposed to be recessed into the wall. You know they weren't. They were also held into the sheetrock with zipits and not int the studs. Banghead Fucking monstrosity was 36" wide too. The bathroom wall is only like 40" wide.

So they come down and into the dumpster.

New fixture goes up into the ceiling where it belongs. Ah, nice and bright in there now!

Wallpaper off. Banghead Those idiots used thick, textured and fabric backed paper on BARE sheetrock with NO primer. OMG KILL THEM NOW.

So, the paper just keeps coming off. I get the fun job of having to skim coat the thing. I hate spackling. Really.

I hate the tile.
I hate the insipid pink grout. I don't want to tackle the dusty job of removing and re-grouting.
I hate the pink and white floor. I'm making a custom rug that goes wall to wall to hide that shit.

Friday we head to IKEA for some really nice fixtures. Solid wood.
Today I hit Home Depot for primer and paint. I'm going to go with a light to medium gray with white trim on the door frame. The stupid flower tiles have gray in them so it works.

I wish I could take out the tub and put in a corner shower instead but I will lose resale value if I do since this is the only bathroom in the house. Taking that out would leave me with the perfect space for litter box and stuff too.

OK here are the pics right after tear-down. Matt took these so you dont' have the full wall.

And here is two days of spackling and sanding. I have grit in my teeth. Ick.

Two coats of primer and I still see 'holidays'. Today paint goes on. I'll be doing the hallway in the same gray once the bathroom is done too. It needs painting and that "white trash door" that Daisy chewed needs patching and fixing so that'll get done too.

I hate painting.

PAINTING IS DONE! Yahoo

I hate painting. Ceiling and walls the same color. I used the very light gray on the office walls for the door trim instead of white.

Friday we go buy the fixtures and finish. Shit took 2 coats of that Behr paint and primer in one. No need to prime my ass!

I still hate that tile with the ridiculous pink grout Barf

Looks good so far Twitch.
Too bad it is so hard to get a good picture in small rooms.

I have a ceiling to cover and walls to paint in the laundry room....sometime...soon?

I was standing in the tub smushed all the way to the wall that take that picture too.

Didn't you do your laundry room just a couple years ago? I'm jealous, I wish I had a laundry room. I have to go down into the dungeon to do mine.

I think it came out good. And a little pink with all that gray isn't too bad. You can always re-do the grout if you really want. It's not too bad.

Biker,
the tiles go to the ceiling in the tub and then around the wall 4' up (where you can see in the pics). Removing grout sucks. Adding is easy. I just don't want to pull out that shit while standing on the top rung of the 4' ladder and eating that grout dust. It's a sucky job.
There is pink in the flowers of the tile though. That's plenty of pink for me.

Once the bathroom is put back together and we're not living out of boxes in the hallway, that hallway is next. It's been sitting around patched and ready to paint for like 3 years now. Time to "un-white trash" it!

Yep, moved everything up from the basement. Last year with that deep freeze we had for a solid month had everyone's gutters backing up and ice building up and water dripping in, including my laundry room. I need to cover the ceiling, put up an updated light and someone wants to paint the walls.
If I ever get to it I'll make a thread.

Hit IKEA for the fixtures tonight and gorged out on meatballs. Smile
We put these in tomorrow. And they're actually as described - solid wood and not a veneer over particle board. Pics when we put them together.

I'm going to need a little extra storage for hair supplies once the cabinet and sink are in.
