I had to use something similar to that for the wheel lock nuts on my rims it was oversized to go over the special nut. The smaller part might have been to use a mechanics wrench on a much larger nut.

0 That is an old lug nut socket. There are decks on the small end and the outside of the socket to accommodate 2 different wrench sizes. You would use the smaller one for nuts that are of a normal torque and the larger one for a bigger wrench for more difficult ones.
