I kinda like the idea of shackle shoes, but the bright orange and plastic parts instantly makes it look really stupid. it also makes it a obvious prisoner look. The coloring on the rest of the shoes also makes it look stupid.

The only reason why the IDEA (and not the actual execution of it) appeals to me is because I've got a pair of arm-warmers with handcuffs on them, and a choker with a chain on it. The shoes if they had been done right, would had matched up with those accessories very well.
They would had been popular with the goth crowds I sometimes run with, if it wasn't for the color and materials.

As for the racism angle... I doubt they would had cried racism had the shoes looked more Gothic or something instead of something a black person might wear. I suppose it doesn't help that Adidas is a very popular name brand for Black people to wear, from shoes to gym wear.

Or that they make up a goodly portion of the prison population, especially in popular culture.

I think the shoes are hilariously great in how *offensive* they are.

They should sell them here. They'd probably do well. We didn't have slaves, just apartheid. Shackles were never really big, as far as I know.

But I think nurock and demonia pretty much have the goth market cornered round here.

I think AM is right. If they were black with studs and the shackles black with chrome spikes then nobody would have said jack shit.
