After YEARS of work, persistence, many personnel changes and (at times) elevated levels of frustration, my band is ready to strike out into the general public.

We've got our business cards designed and ordered, fridge magnets are also coming, 4 song demo recorded and the final edits and mastering done, website up and running, URL purchased, initial playlist good to go, some spare songs in the works, a few bookings set and some new gear purchased.

Just have to get some decent promo pictures and we can get our brochure printed for the promo pack.

Our drummer runs a graphics business and will be making a banner for us. He designed our logo which will be on the cards, banner, magnets and brochure as well as on the website.

So few people realize what is involved in getting a band out of the blocks.

Check out our site:
Govtcheez.com

All the work will be worthwhile when we see people being entertained by our performance. (We sure as hell ain't in this for the money.)

I did a mess of promo pictures for a band once. I don't have the negatives anymore but they came really good.

Do any of you have access to a sweet muscle car? They make perfect photo accompaniments for promo pics.
You need to spiff up your outfits for promo pics and your hair. Also, don't be afraid of makeup! Sometimes the camera shows too much regarding blemishes and skin imperfections and makeup will always keep that perfect. Promo pictures are a HUGE boost and you want them perfect.

If I think of anything else or you have questions on this, ask me! If the photographer you hire does not suggest any of the above (excluding the car but that's really a good bonus Wink ), then find a different photographer.

If you want, I can send you the files. Shoot me a PM.

LH, Roller Derby Queen is a Jim Croce song. On that track Mike is doing the lead vocals and I'm doing melodic backup on the chorus. Both Mike and Wayne are playing acoustic guitar while Steve is playing the lilting lead lines with a clean electric.

With the new gear......

My main speaker setup used to consist of 2 three way stacks each consisting of:

Peavey 1522 on top

Peavey FH-1 for mids

And Crate 18" subwoofer

I bought a pair of Carvin LS 2315 speakers and replaced the top and mid cabinets with them.

WOW......what a difference! The new cabinets are a giant leap speaker design and blow the old school stack away! Coupled with the 18" subs they produce ground shaking lows with very clean mid and high frequencies.

Next I got a DBX Driverack PA+ pa system processor.

This little gem replaced both my Yamaha EQ

And Yamaha crossover network

On top of that it also added a feedback destroyer, real time analyzer, compressor/limiter, sub harmonic frequency amplifier and a pink noise generator. This little puppy makes it almost TOO easy for my sound guy.

Getting all of the above not only greatly improved an already kickass system but has the added benefit of reducing the weight we have to lug around by a little over 250 pounds.

Ya gotta love this new lightweight technology! Biggrin
