Anyone familiar with this thing?

Matt got one with the Kinect feature for Christmas and after hooking it up, setting up his free live account, he finds out that he has to pay $60/ year for the service to stream Netflix (we already pay for netflix), Youtube (we already have that fucking free), FiOS - we pay thru the nose for that, and more. WTF?

You need a some kind of gold account/membership to access all that stuff. I guess we'll be sticking with our iPod touch for streaming Netflix.

Apple TV - for $100 for the device, you can stream whatever you want as long as you have a subscription through your cable outfit (premium channels) or Netflix, etc. without having to pay for an extra subscription to line Micro$oft pockets.

What a gyp.

I never could stand that arrogant prick Jobs, I despise Apple's business model, I don't like how the corporation behaves. So I choose to give my money to companies that I do like.

That's fine. I'll stick with my Apple products because I know I can get live support in America in less than a minute on the phone. I can go on and on but I wont'. I don't like Micro$oft'$ bullshit. Everyone can say the same for their favorite companies and the reasons they won't use another.

HERE is an alternative to Apple TV. Either way Micro$oft is not getting a dime from me for services I'm already paying for.

And I have never needed live support. Ever. Not once. Going back to windows 3.11. I have not once needed phone support for even one Microsoft product. Or Hewlett Packard. Or dell. Or any other.

And the only thing I pay for tv is the 8.99 for netflix. Got rid of comcast cuz I didn't watch it enough to justify it.

We can nit pick this all day. I'm glad you didn't need support. I did on quite a few occasions. My calls to support were not necessarily problem related but help on a learning curve for me. I had need for technical PC support more times than I can remember.

So you see, everyone's experiences are different and for different reasons.

Funny you're bashing Apple so much here and I see you're using Linux and a Safari browser. Apple and Linux are unix based. Just sayin...

And its a bug. I am not using safari. I am sending this from my HTC android powered phone. (Did I sound enough like mv there?)

I wonder if your phone is using Safari? Does it give you a name of your browser? The only way it could be using it would be that it's installed on your phone. I tried Firefox for my phone and a couple others and Safari seems to function best.

Yeah, I know a lot of things are Unix based.
