we came home from holiday early because the weather was crap and the wipers packed up on the camper van.
No1 son agreed I could go to Brooklands with him in Rene for a Renault meeting.
About a quarter of all the known running '4's in England attended. It was a chance for Philip to meet people and contacts so he can start re-storing Rene.

This is a soft-top- loaned by Renault UK for the day.

A military aircraft museum is based at Brooklands.

Some motorbikes come with bigger engines.

Another shot with the soft-top And a Renault 6! I haven't seen one in years. The owner says he only knows of 3 in the club but DVLA listing say 23 are registered in the United Kingdom.

One of the racing bikes in the museum- We had a very dear friend who had one of these, his nasty duaghter had all his bikes scrapped when he died. If only she knew what they were worth...........

It was really quiet when we climbed the hill track to look at it, just us there. we stood in silence for some time then Phil' said
'Mum, if you listen really hard you can hear the ghosts the motorbikes going round.'

It just had that almost religious feel to the place.
Shame London out grew itself and spilled over. The track isn't complete now because a road and houses have been built on part of it.

We had an old stock car track here that turned into a ghost town too. Weissglass Stadium. As kids we used to go to the Moon Walk, then the Giant Slide and play there until the races started. First were 5 rounds (qualifiers and then the final) of stock car racing and the finale of the night was the demolition derby. Man that was so much fun.

By the time I was a teenager, they built the projects behind it all and the place was overgrown with weeds. Now there is shopping centers and a parking lot there.

I know exactly what Phil means by the ghosts of the engines being heard.
