They just raised our school budget taxes again. 1.2% last year they upped them 3.4% or some shit like that along with a note that they haven't raised taxes in 10 years. Bullshit.

School teachers pensions are up so they need the revenue. School budget for a town of 100,000 is over 6 BILLION (or some shit like that). Can you say "damn"? I say misappropriation of funds. People are having fits and rightly so. The liberals are saying it's good. Kids need the books and programs. They said for PENSIONS idiots.

I bet when the revenue stream continues to dry up from fuel taxes, they'll keep up the taxes on it, cigarettes, etc, and just find something else to tax to non-existence. Generally the pattern of things anyhow.

I like taking old lawn, garden, and farm equipment that can be had for cheap at some yard sale or some shit, and making them new again. I got a bunch of shovels that were rusted up, the wood rotted and weathered, etc. I cleaned them up with naval jelly, sanded them, painted them with some industrial paint and added a new handle for pretty cheap compared to just buying a new shovel. I keep them nice and repaint the parts with the paint worn off every fall before putting them up. We've had the same shovels and everything for about 20 years now.

That's kind of cool Gunnen. We have tools from before I was born because my family tends to take care of our things. Sometimes it's fun to compare what was used back in gramp's day to ours too.

You should try restoring old motorcycles too. Sometimes you can do like Twist did and find some old shit bucket real cheap and fix it up and sell it.

No thanks, I have risked my life enough already! I have an aversion to motorcycles ever since I saw a guy get spattered on Loop 375 in El Paso. They had to pick parts of him up with a spoon, and the blood stain was there for a week. It wasn't his fault, it was some woman talking on a cell phone and driving that hit him. It's never you the motorcycle rider most of the time, but everyone else's shitty driving.

Old bikes for restoration are where the term "basket case" came from. Some were partially disassembled and the parts came to the new owner/restorer in baskets.....literally. (Well......boxes, tubs, milk crates etc) Hence the term basket case.

I go to estate sales, public auctions and consignment sales and sometimes score old tools and implements for pennies. Many times just a little TLC and they are perfectly useful tools again. One sale I picked up 2 ground rakes, a spade shovel and a scythe for $1.00. The one rake was rusted through at the corner and no longer useful but the other and the shovel just needed handles. The scythe handle is really rough but it just needed sharpening and still works fine.

I picked up handles (a little weathered but way better than what they had) at a different auction for 50 cents!

Oh yeah, it's always shitty drivers. That's why I sold my bike until I move out to a less populated area again. My heart is in my mouth when I see how some of these assholes drive around bikers riding solo.

Now, I never said you should ride them, you restore and sell. Lots of people collect old bikes and you never know what gems you can find that someone wants.

LK - I thought the term basket case came from someone who lost all their limbs due to war or some shit like that?

I should really update that thread, I have the shit bucket out and have been playing with it. I hammered out a set of highway pegs out of scrap metal I had laying around. I actually rode it to work yesterday.

How come a full on oil change with filters, tire rotation etc for the Mustang only costs $30 but a stupid key fob for the alarm costs $56 to purchase and then $40 to program?
