I'm pleased to hear some of you do know England- where did you go?- I know kbear has been over (driving in London!)
It is a refreshing walk I do it twice a day all weathers.

Unless you work in a path that does not require you to cross any main roads here, it's impossible to walk to work. Jersey was poorly planned. The place is all 50 MPH highways. You are either on a main thoroughfare that is heavily congested and busy day and night or you're in a housing development and if it's not yours, how'd you get there on foot? Even the rural areas where I lived when I had the farm are overdeveloped with housing now and the roads are dangerous for pedestrians or cyclists. The farmers all sold to big developers and the housing boom during the Bush years killed all the pretty.

I visited my sister in Bovingdon. We did the touristy stuff. Was there for 16 days but that was back in '98. Definitely time to go again.

I have never been to england but I have been to germany.

I have friends and a fella who works for me that are from England. As a matter of fact My wifes best friend Married a gent from Scotland and they live in England until next year when he retires from the Royal Navy.

I envy some of the fishing yall have there, the Rough fishing is amazing and I'd love to fish some of the Syndicates there.

The Chilterns? Lovely spot, where my hubby's family mainly live now. They were all in Coventry but have gravitated out as they move onto new lives and jobs. He was born in Surrey (in a field of cows-honest) where his father was a research scientist at the time.

I'm Dorset born and bred, my mother discovered her grand-father ran away to sea age 14 from his home in the Chilterns too. We thought he was a canalways child but it turns out he used the canals to get to Liverpool and his father was a gardener for a country house. Her family were/is either in the Navy or fishermen. My cousin is a Crab fisherman.
My fathers family were really exciting! Each and everyone was a shepherd, except my in grandfather's generation. He was a Miller and one of his older brother's went off to fight in the First World War.

All this stuff is so interesting.
I love hearing 1st hand about other places.
I talk to a guy on another forum from the UK, his grandfather went down on the HMS Hood during WWII, and a couple of guys from South Africa, very interesting.

I think I have the most boring family on the planet. Our big excitement is bickering at each other.
