sounds like you had a robust and adventurous childhood for a city yankee kitty

as far as the ice crossing challenge there was a very shallow cove nearby that i would cut across, bluegill bed there in the spring and it was never more than 18 inches deep but it had that really soft deep mud and i did come home on occasion missing a shoe that was eaten by the mud monster
