So, I went in early on Thursday and filled out a personal availability form, and then saved it by putting it in my book on the shelf in the break room. Chris saw me in the hallway as I was doing this and pretended to be cordial with his weasalness about how he has the back room all ready for us to go. I guess he took my early arrival for motivation to work for Walmart!
I walked past him, and eventually went to working as normal, unloading the truck. You ever get that impression someone is checking on you? Well, Chris stayed a bit past his shift and sort of came back to check out what we were doing, and sort of checking on me. He knew something was up, and I reveled in his worry or puzzlement. He eventually left. It was comical, because he looked puzzled and just knew something was up, but couldn't figure out what or where or how. I kept things on the down low, so no one could gossip to him either. I hope he was bothered that evening.
After the truck was unloaded, I went to talk to Irene. Everyone says she is a bitch, and she sort of exudes it leading me to the same conclusion of sorts. This time, I was pleasantly surprised as I brought the issue up. I asked if Christ had mentioned or talked to her about the school schedule, and she said he only mentioned it. Wham! So he didn't discuss anything with her at all either.
Then we talked about everything that happened. The fact there was no discussion when he said there would be one, that he said I couldn't work less than 32hrs (tough shit otherwise, pal), and if I couldn't hack it, he didn't know what to tell me. And that he didn't have me fill out a personal availability sheet. Each time I brought something, Irene would ask for a bit more detail and I would provide it. She was frowning seriously at what was obviously a crock of shit going on. Randy, another manager, turned in his chair and looked at me like "are you fucking serious". Yea, he was wondering at this devilry too. To top it off, I told her that I felt this was all done underhandedly and without consideration for anyone else or due process. She said she would discuss this with him. I replied that if he has an issue, we three can all sit down together and discuss it like was promised to begin with.
So, that out of the way, Irene let me work reduced hours on days I picked, because "education is important" and so was staying on the Dean's List. Apparently, Chris lied about changing anything, as nothing was changed at all. So, we went in and changed it (which requires me to authorize it with my password anyhow), and then she authorized my availability sheet to where I cannot be scheduled for anything outside of the three days I am now scheduled for. WHAM, put in my password and authorized it.
Chris cannot change anything like this without me putting my password in. Nor can he schedule anything on days I have blocked out without my consenting. So fuck you Chris. Irene needs me to do the same for her if she wants to change anything, but I am not worried about the surprisingly pleasant Irene -- also, she actually listens unlike others. Long story short, my bases are covered and my work that day cannot be undone.
Chris pretty much looked like a fucking moron, or a slimy worm, or well, both. He didn't look that good I will say that. I imagine I will probably create a small shitstorm with him over what I did, but I don't give a fuck. He wants to be underhanded with me, I can be underhanded with him. If he wants to argue, I am just going to smile and ignore him, and likely ask to have a *discussion* before Irene. He isn't in charge of shit either, really, Irene is. He wants to play games and try to make my job a bit harder for me, I'll just make a massive stink of it all.
Schedule changed, days blocked out, everything permanent for now, Chris beaten, and I found out that with the right amount of honest charm and such, Irene is actually a very pleasant lady.
All this just to work 24hrs a week instead of 32hrs. God. Damn.
