Well first off, who the hell would go to their Ex for anything no matter their profession, there is a risk of bad blood no matter what and especially in his case cause he had a new woman on the line shortly after the break up.
The ex is a goddamn idiot for doing something like that there is a difference between payback and fucking up someones life. She should have had the brains and ovaries to just say "honestly I hate you and want nothing to do with you, find another dentist". I hope she goes to jail for a long time and he sues the shit out of her and gets a portion of her paychecks for life.
