Yeah

Around here there's always a little scrap thievery going on (abandoned mine sites, illegal dump sites at stripping pits etc) but when they start breaking in at construction sites, boarded businesses and such it's a REALLY good gauge of the economy being shitty.
We have a fair number of folks who make their living hauling scrap regardless of the economy. Those folks are on the up and up and generally are not a nuisance to anyone. Hell......one fella comes through the area and simply knocks on the door and asks if you have anything you'd like removed or if nobody answers the door, he leaves a nice postcard with his contact information and business description. Very professional.
