OH! SAAB update, No1 son is now insured to drive the 1972 V496 and after two days of not 'finding third gear' he has solved the problem. It was in freewheel.
I had said to Mark not to let him drive it in freewheel until he got used the size and weight of the car, but I don't think Mark checked before he gave him the car. Anyway, now I've shown him the simple method of finding a gear on the column, he is happy 'as Larry'.
He has set off to the weekly Biker meeting in it tonight because we are having monsoon rains at the moment!
His parting shot......'Christine would be so pissed off if she knew I was driving this'.
Mark wouldn't let her drive it, thinking it would be too heavy after all the cars she drove at work (forgetting the minibuses and Renault Trafic vans)
