It was determined that the cost of dismantling it would outstrip the value of the materials. It's also way too expensive to rebuild to the point that it wouldn't realize a return in the foreseeable future.
The only way it would be cleared would be if Six Flags and the New Orleans city management would ok a salvage crew to come in and tear it down but they (the crew) would get all proceeds from the materials. Basically..."If you will rip it down you can keep the materials in exchange for not charging a fee." This would at least clear the property.
