Since the breakup of Govt Cheez the one guitarist Steve, and I have been working together and have had ads out looking for new bandmates.

We were talking about how it would be great if our friend Forrest, who is a PREMIUM lead guitarist would become available. Well lo and behold, Forrest had a falling out with his band and joined forces with us!

Score score score!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As an added bonus, the keyboard player for his band isn't very happy either and is jumping over to our project.

Last weekend we got together (sans keyboards) and were able to put 32 songs together, 17 of which would be performance quality as they were. All we need now is for the keyboard guy to join us which will happen this coming Saturday and to (hopefully quickly) get a drummer.

If everything clicks as well as it has so far, once a drummer is in place there's no reason we couldn't be booking jobs in 2 months.

Every once in a while luck DOES smile upon you! Biggrin

There was growing separations with some members wanting to move on to different styles. One guitarist went to a 50's 60's band, the drummer went to a band that plays newer and heavier music, another guitarist is just kicking back and seeing where the winds deposit him, the sax player is doing a 40's 50's project, and Steve and I are doing this deal.

We set up a Facebook page and already have almost 100 friends since we set it up just this past Sunday!!!!!
If that's any indication of how folks will support us at the shows I think we'll do just fine.

Forrest himself has a devoted following and any band he's with.....they come to see. We're all experienced musicians with realistic expectations. Hopefully we can find a drummer who thinks and behaves in the same way.

I just have a good feeling about this band. I hope I'm right.

We can say the same!

Sounds like this project is going to be a good one, LK. Good luck and let us know where you play if you get some gigs a little closer to us! We'll travel if it's a Friday or Saturday night.

Classic rock. Late 60's, 70's and early 80's material. There's a bit of southern fried tossed in there too.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.

Twitch, ya never know, we just might land something down your way.

The plans are to do some live recording at the shows and we have someone who can do decent videos which we will post on YouTube.

There's also a possibility that we could do some live streaming at some of the places we're looking to book at!

I'll post before shows to let you know what's up.

Oh......we now have a definite name for the band: Blowin' Smoke

Great name!

If you're close, just letting you know that Matt is more than 'decent' on the video camera. Terrible on still photos, but excellent on video. I'm pretty good with stills if I have a good camera.

Cool. If we can get something close enough you two have free passes and band perks as photographer and videographer! Wink
