*sigh*

I didn't know we had to be crankily applying a ton of philosophical cog-turning to a movie based on an older children's book about a horse surviving WW1.

I enjoyed it for what it was despite all the shortcomings pointed out by an endless line of cynics.

Cranky about it or not, it's the point they changed the story to be more about this miracle horse instead of the story of the lives of the people he touched.

Too many times the book is destroyed by making a movie and this is another one of those instances. In fact, I should start a thread about that Smile

Maybe everyone should read the book- then see the film.

The problem so often is trying to adapt a book into a realistic film time- I find any film over 2 hours can be too long, unless it really is mind gripping and time just flies by.
No1 son goes to the cinema every Tuesday to see B films (The Blob etc) sometimes he says over dinner 'Mum want to come and see ... such and such (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was last week) it's 196 minutes or so'

I didn't go to see above, but I hear him talking about a 'short' for tomorrow
