Two movies coming out soon.

The Raven - the Edgar Allen Poe classic. Looks really good and is on my must see in the movie theater list.

and Dark Shadows. Does anyone remember the soap opera from the '60's? I vaguely remember as it went off the air when I was very young. They turned it into a comedy of sorts so I think it could work. Starring Johnny Depp and coming out on May 15. Another must see in the theater for me.

I remember Dark Shadows, even though I didn't watch it. The vamp was a Barnabus(?) fellow.

Hell, if they can make a soap opera about vamps, then why not make it a comedy too.

OH man! The Raven was excellent!

I love how they used a serial killer to theorize the mystery of Poe's death. The mix of real life biography of his life with fiction/theory worked really well. This is one I may see again.

We were going to do a double-feature and see The Avengers but all show times for that are sold out. Choice of 3D or regular and I'd rather see it regular. Unless it's Imax it's not really that great or worth the extra $3 per ticket.

Next week starts Dark Shadows.

I used to run home from school to watch Dark Shadows, I think I was in 3rd grade when it started. I saw the previews for the movie and it looks kind of stupid, with Depp doing another weird interpretation of the role, like he did with Willy Wonka.

The Avengers is getting knock out reviews, that sounds like one I might drag myself to the theater for.

Well they did a comedic twist to Dark Shadows and it just might work. I might take my mom for mother's day because I know she wants to see it but none of her friends will go to anything that is higher than a G rating.

I used to watch it too but I was young - second grade maybe when i started watching it. It went off the air in the early '70's and I hardly remember enough to recall anything.

IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059978/

I'm going to see if it's available on Netflix or someplace and watch the old soap.

You're not touching the original series for under $500 and it's not going to be released until July or something like that. Damn. I should have figured they would lock up the original now the movie was made.

you can get the entire series over at Demonoid. I just checked and found part 5 of 5. I'm sure they have the other four as well.
