There's a guy on the local Fox morning show now who went through this and is describing how it was. He's no more than 35 years old. Jesus. He's saying his mother realized it was wrong and secretly supported him through the treatments.

Yeah, there was a Criminal Minds episode about it too. I doubt it was based on a true story, but probably rather on a host of generic info stemming from this shit.
