A truck I saw - twisteroo - 08-15-2014 I dunno why I like this stuff but I saw this truck. It had 19 axles under it. I wonder if the guy gets paid more for driving it. It had half a dozen chase cars with it and here he is doing a 3 point turn with a guy on the back with a radio and a couple more holding up traffic. I was wondering if the guy on back could help steer too like the old fire trucks.
RE: A truck I saw - Twitchin Kitten - 08-15-2014 What the hell is he hauling? I'm always amazed at those big trucks too. Looks like a generator the size of a city block. You need to take bigger pictures! RE: A truck I saw - twisteroo - 08-16-2014 I have no idea what it was, but you can see how small the tractor looks. I'm kinda waiting for LK to give us his take on what the hell this thing is. You gotta wonder what it weighed to take all those wheels to disperse the weight. RE: A truck I saw - Twitchin Kitten - 08-16-2014 I'm kinda interested in the guy in the back helping guide the thing too. No police escort either? Those wide load things here usually have a cop running front and back to keep idiots from trying to pass. I used to drive pilot car. That thing is huge though. And I'm guessing Twist is right that the guy in the back may be able to help steer, cause I've seen trailers like that where that was true. RE: A truck I saw - Biker Dude - 08-16-2014 Wonder what that thing is... I've seen a couple of loads that were so big they had two trucks. RE: A truck I saw - LKTraz - 08-16-2014 Ok.....not sure what the machinery being hauled is but...... Yes the guy on back has steering control. The back set of axles are what is called a steerable dolly. The span overall is for weight distribution as is the number of axles. RE: A truck I saw - TenFour - 08-17-2014 its a multi hole fracking rig. welding the arms back on site would be cheaper than hauling it. RE: A truck I saw - twisteroo - 08-17-2014 Oh yeah, this was in Eastern Montana, so the fracking thing would fit right in. All I'm sure of is it was a big mofo. RE: A truck I saw - Twitchin Kitten - 08-17-2014 Thanks for explaining that TenFour! I'll never see something like that around here. There isn't room to drive it let alone drop off that fracking rig! |
