Shooting reported at Connecticut elementary school
Breaking news coming in - Connecticut State Police are responding to reports of a shooting at a Newtown elementary school in southwestern Connecticut, according to police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance.
We'll bring you more details as soon as we get them.
Our affiliates in the area are saying the school is the Sandy Hook Elementary School.
WTNH says all schools in the area are on lockdown. WFSB added that afternoon kindergarten was being canceled.

What is with this rash of shootings lately?
I don't understand it - are people finally just snapping and reacting against everything now? What? Why in such a short time frame. There are more and more shootings more and more frequently.
To be honest, I wouldn't doubt if there was something larger to do with all this, and if a goal is to inflict grief to achieve something, then they did right in picking small children. Disgusting.

Gunnen, it's Christmas / Holiday 'season'. For some reason domestic violence, violence in general and shootings, suicides and other bad behavior seem to run rampant this time of year.

The guy had history of mental illness and was labeled with multiple personalities, shame on his mom for keeping guns so accessible to a mentally unstable child. I feel for the children's families and even the killers family the brother doesn't have his mother anymore but her carelessness played a large roll in this event happening and also the mental health system is letting people fall through the cracks. I hope something good comes from this and I hope its not just taking more rights away from gun owners thats not going to help and it will just make good people more vulnerable.

How do you know she kept them "so accessible" to him? He's not a child, he's a grown man and he probably was clever enough to know how to break into any security measure she may have had. There wasn't a lock my mom had that I couldn't pick as a kid.
Are there any legitimate reports about her carelessness with the guns?
