With the price of fuel.......... - LKTraz - 05-14-2011 .........being as high and volitile as it exists in the US today, this link might be helpful. Locate the prices at various fuel vendors in your (or any) area. Fuel price finder RE: With the price of fuel.......... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-14-2011 I've got a couple of apps on my phone to help find cheaper fuel prices and it uses geo-location for wherever I am. Nice link LK. These prices are getting insane and the big O has no intention of pulling them down. I get newsletters from John Boehner and it says congress passed a couple of energy bills to combat high prices. I didn't read them but you can see the newsletters HERE and HERE if you wish. RE: With the price of fuel.......... - LKTraz - 05-14-2011 Twitch, since you operate a diesel pickup truck, you DO know how to save some fuel $$$ by burning some used fryer oil right? RE: With the price of fuel.......... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-14-2011 Yeah but A) I've no clue how to process that and B) we don't really fry food at all and C) that is getting costly now too. It's about the same as lower end priced diesel and major companies are now selling their used oil to "companies" who make biodiesel. Top that off with after Monday I'll know if I'm keeping the truck at or not. Whatever Mike finds on that front end depends on the decision to ditch it or keep it. If it's what he thinks it is, and he thinks an axel issue, it's a $3K job and I just don't have that kind of money to dump into a 12 year old truck. I'll trade it in as is and get something else. Then the hunt for a bike rack starts anew! RE: With the price of fuel.......... - LKTraz - 05-14-2011 Well......if you get another diesel it's simple. Just take the used fryer oil and filter it through cheesecloth! Once you have all the chunks out it goes straight into the tank. Figures that the fucks down there have figured out to sell it already. Around here they still pay to have it taken! Someone who offers to take it for free hits a jackpot! RE: With the price of fuel.......... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-14-2011 All the big companies are selling it, all across the nation. I may be able to find someone who fries alot locally but I just don't want to bother filtering, storing and obtaining. It would take half my week and all the gas I'm "saving" driving around to get it. Then there's the barrels and ugly in the yard. Eh, can't be bothered. RE: With the price of fuel.......... - twisteroo - 05-14-2011 Buy a BOB for that new $7,000 bicycle that you bought and say fuck that truck once and for all. RE: With the price of fuel.......... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-14-2011 Yeah, my idea of driving through Jersey traffic (all highways here) on a bike is exactly what I want to do to feel safe and secure on the road. ![]() RE: With the price of fuel.......... - Rhubarb - 05-14-2011 what volume are these prices? litres? It has just gone down to 1.40 a litre here (my converter says that's $2.27) 4 litres equals about one US gallon. RE: With the price of fuel.......... - LKTraz - 05-15-2011 4 liters is just a little over a US gallon. (3.7854 L = 1 gallon to be precise). Our fuel prices are expressed in US gallons. When you see us say $3.98 it's actually $3.989 (they have the damned taxes figured to run it up by 9/10 of a cent). So at $2.27/L it would calculate to: $2.27 x 3.7854 = $8.59/gallon. Realize though that your fuel prices reflect an ASSLOAD of taxes where ours is a drop in the bucket relatively speaking. I have to search a bit to find it again but I had a site where I could see what portion of fuel prices was tax for the US and Europe. At the time it figured out that the raw fuel prices were very close to each other when comparing the US and UK. Taxes made the real difference. |
