Only in the South on a back road - kbear - 04-25-2011

i was driving to town yesterday on way back from the park. So I took the back roads. Well I'm driving along with the radio on, having a nice day.

I come around the a curve, and there was a big cowCowCow in the middle in the road. The dam cow was bigger then my car. So I slowed down and stopped. I sat there a few not to sure what to do. Yelled at the cow to move. Well it didn't move.
So I drove forward really slow. Came up next to the cow. It just stood there and looked at me. Like what are you doing here.

Well I got past the cow and stepped on it. Oh, let's not forget the other cow on the side of the road. Cow
Watched me like what are you doing.

So only in the south would I find a cow in the road!!!!!!!

CowCowCow

Some farmer has some fences to mend!

I've run into sheep, goats, geese and cows here in NJ. It's usually a case of busted fences. They lean on them to get the good, fresh grass that's coming up now for spring. They are probably kept in mud lots all winter and the fresh grass is too much to resist! Fences give way easily when you're 1200 pounds!

Cows are stupid too. They'll lean on barbed wire and shred themselves to get to the 'good stuff'.

Usually around here it is a couple dozen out in the road at a time, they make a mass break for it I suppose.

Pigs in the Autumn and cows in the spring (which are usually Dexters). A real problem in the dark.
A friend got caught short coming home and he stopped off for a 'tinkle' as he put it. Found he was peeing over a Dexter, he couldn't see it standing in the ditch Kez

No fences here in this part of the southwest, it's open range, cattle can be just about anywhere.

We get the occasional "escapees" here in PA too. Cows, sheep, goats, pigs. Hell, we have an ostrich and emu farm just down the road and a few years back an ostrich managed to escape. Damn near got hit by 3 different vehicles over the course of the 5 days it was at large!
