I've never understood why anyone would want to add toffee on the outside of an apple. These look wonderful but...how the hell do you eat them?

It's an art, like ballet dancing.
I think these get neatly sliced and presented on expensive china by a tuxedo-clad butler. The ones I've had, I just chomped it from the stick. It's a little messy but delicious.

I chomp into them too. Keep a paper towel handy to wipe the mess off your chin on each bite
Trudi, the taste combination of caramel and apple cannot be described. It's just delicious. You need to find a recipe and make them yourself. It's pretty easy if you're not going for gourmet prettiness!

I was never too nuts about caramel apples, too much apple and not enough caramel.
How about those candy apples, remember the ones with the hard sugar candy coating?
Now those were a pain in the ass to eat, you would lick and gnaw and crack a tooth or two before you finally got that first crack through the hard candy. Then after all that sugar the apple tasted like shit anyway.
