Marathon - Nightmare - 09-09-2010
I really don't understand the Africans. They have no problem running a marathon, but when it comes to walking a couple of miles for fresh water it's winge, winge fucking winge.
For those not in the know, here in the UK, we are forever getting bombarded with requests to send money to Africa so they can get fresh water.
I do feel for the youngsters but it is up to their government to sort out the welfare of their own country. There has been millions raised over the years but we never seem to see the results of where the money has been spent.

Thats because so much of it gets either wasted or embezzled.
My boss and his family went to Kenya on one of the safaris and since his wife is a teacher she wanted to do a link with either a school or orphanage and her school here at home.
Their Guide agreed to take them to an orphanage that the staff at the hotel are reportedly supporting (although no one mentioned it there). He advised them to go shopping for food before they arrived and not to give any money to the manager.
He said the children were great but after an hour or so with the manager they worked out he was quite shifty and he asked them to send money to the home in his name so it could get cashed at the bank. Rumour was he provided very little for the children and my bosses photo's showed the money poured into the home didn't appear to achieve much.......but the manager and his family had quite a nice house in the grounds of the home.
Tracey has been doing further research since they got home and decided not to get involved.
