Meet Mikki! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-13-2010 Success! I got her today. She's outside in the crate in the shade. Pissed as hell. Freaked out a little too. But she's safe and will definitely take a lot longer than Sofie to settle in for sure. I was able to snap a couple of pictures of her, before capture and after. She actually was pretty easy. I got there, took the crate and food out and opened the crate door. Went back to the truck for the camera and found her halfway in the crate! I got there fast enough to shove her ass in and shut the door on her. Man, was she mad! Tough. In two days she's going to know things are much better here. So, she's outside and I'm hoping the fleas jump off her there before bringing her in. Ideally I'd like to bathe her but I don't feel like getting bit. Now I gotta see about getting some vaccines in the two of them, rabies shots and dewormed. Good thing I can do shots on my own. Sorry for the blurry pics. I was hurrying. RE: Meet Mikki! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-13-2010 She's still somewhat upset but is starting to settle in a little. I'm going to leave her outside until Matt gets home and then I'll bring her inside. It'll be easier with two people to referee the dogs that way. RE: Meet Mikki! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-13-2010 Well I got her inside now for a couple of hours. Did it on my own just before Matt got home. I couldn't take her freaking out anymore. While I was sitting with her outside I noticed that her incessant itching had stopped so I can feel safe the fleas are gone or at least gone enough that I can rid the house of any small amount that may slip past. I'll toss flea powder in the rugs to be safe and vacuum it up in a day. An old trick I learned before they invented Frontline ![]() Once inside she calmed right down. She's not hissy with the dogs or the other cats. Things 1 & 2 are NOT thrilled with her or Sofie but they'll adjust in time. I'm just glad she's settled in. I left the carrier inside the crate too. She's now using that as a snuggly hide out. She's enjoying being pet and scratched in all her itchy zones. Poor thing is all scabby under her neck and her left ear is fly chewed. I don't see mites thank god but she's going to need some fur grown back on her monkey butt! Poor thing pulled out all her hair from scratching fleas. She also needs a lot of groceries, more so than Sofie. RE: Meet Mikki! - kbear - 08-13-2010 So glad she is home with you now! I'm sure she will be really happy!! She has a great new home now. RE: Meet Mikki! - twisteroo - 08-14-2010 She is also a nice looking cat. I give you credit. I mean if they show up at my door I will feed any cat that comes around. I try to let them eat and let them go off and do their thing, unless they are like Scruffy. Scruff too me under his wing because he knew that I needed another cat. You can tell when they have nothing else and nowhere else to go. I don't go looking for strays. But I suppose if I came across on that really needed help. Again, I give you credit Twitch. ![]() RE: Meet Mikki! - Havoc - 08-14-2010 Wild cats are cool, I have a few that live around the house, I feed them outside and just pretty much act like I ignore them when Im outside, been like that for a while now, and now its them that are looking for a relationship, rubbing on my legs and purring when I feed them. Cats are an interesting animal. RE: Meet Mikki! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2010 Apparently she isn't bothered by the dogs. She went out of the crate for a little while this morning. I put her back in. Everyone is hissing at her and she trying to hide under everything. It's too soon to let her loose. Sofie was a different story. She just hangs out in here with me all day and by herself on Matt's chair at night. I want to give her a bath so much but I don't think that will make a good relationship with us. I dont' usually go after strays but Mikki was so pathetic under that pine tree by the dumpsters. Feeding her wasn't enough for me. I pass there daily and couldn't bear it if I saw kids tormenting her or see her got run over lying dead in the road. Sofie was a gift we didn't expect. Sometimes things just work out in ways you don't plan. I think the two of them will be fine in their own time. RE: Meet Mikki! - LKTraz - 08-14-2010 Mikki looks like she will be a very pretty kitty once her fur straightens out and she gets on a regular healthy diet. RE: Meet Mikki! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2010 Mikki is firmly planted under the big dresser in the bedroom and does not look like she has any plans of coming out anytime soon ![]() At least she's using the litter box. |
