Ha ha, the Red Roof Inn here in TR is a drug and hooker haven too. I wonder if the chain gets a commission?

Some of the rooms I was in were the kind of rooms you would go to to shoot drugs, or kill a hooker, or both. One of them still had the chalk outline of the body on the floor when I checked in.
I did manage to stay bedbug free though by using the twist method though.

You'd hate traveling with me. I won't stay in a shit hole like that. One bike run we went on (while I was still married) we were stuck in the last dump in town due to last minute planning. We went in and the fucking roaches came out of the shower head - which was simply a pipe out of the wall with no actual shower head on it.
I freaked out, took our stuff, found a park and slept on the bikes for the night in the cold, Harrisburg, Pa air.
We got a Holiday Inn room the next morning but I'll be damned if I sleep in a roach hole. The couple we were with heard me scream and thought it was funny. They slept with all the lights on. Didn't matter, they were IN their bed pillows too. She said it didn't bother her

The twist method: Don't unpack anything, any clothes that you do take off, hang, don't let them touch the floor or furniture, sleep naked and scrub like a bastard in the shower the next morning before you put your clothes back on. Keeping your body hair to a minimum helps too.

OH I do not unpack and my clothes are INSIDE a plastic bag barrier in my luggage too! Yeah, we're on the same page, but the only difference is I won't stay in the shit holes. Take a small blanket on trips now in case I ever have to sleep outside again too!
Call me crazy but I won't chance a roach in my hair or god forbid, and I've seen it happen, in my ear canal.
Baby roaches are nearly microscopic and will go into the ears and other cavities of the body. I watched some ER TV show on Discovery and some woman came in with a roach in her ear. She was able to HEAR it walking around in there. Doctor confirmed it looking inside. I would be freaking out to the point of giving myself a heart attack.

Holy beersicles Batman! Just grabbed a brew from the fridge that was stacked on top of other stuff and directly in front of the cold air inlet. It's just short of being a slushie and man is it ever good! I'd bet it's at about 33 degrees F.
