RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twitchin Kitten - 08-13-2012 It's the five gallons of mead and cider that does it ![]() Gunnen, so many times I've wanted to do the same thing to rude little twats around here. I've said time and again that I was no angel nor were the gang I hung out with, but we never disrespected anyone in public, public service etc. Sure we'd sass back if we were getting hassled, but we never instigated for the sake of it. Back in my day an adult was allowed to slap around some wise mouth punk. Today, you do any of your stories you're the one the cop is busting for battery and a civil suit on your head because you traumatized little Jimmy for the rest of his life and the restaurant goes down for allowing it to happen. Sad we're not allowed to take care of our own anymore. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twitchin Kitten - 08-13-2012 (08-12-2012, 02:19 PM)Twilla Wrote: Some really nice shots from vintage movies and celebrity photos: I'm at like page 60 right now. Some really nice stuff in there! Been burning time while the site was down this morning. Dylan jinxed us with mentioning that we only would be down if there is an outage on his internet and BOOM! There ya go.
RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - twisteroo - 08-13-2012 I started to chub reading Gunnen's stories.
RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - twisteroo - 08-13-2012 Man, back to work tomorrow after having the past 17 days off.
RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Gunnen4u - 08-14-2012 I get to meet with the zone manager and shift manager tomorrow about my school schedule. I already got the gyst that they do not like this semester's schedule, nor do they care about homework loads vs work loads, and they likely expect me to work the same hours. Tomorrow is the day of reckoning. If they want to play hardball, I am going to request to talk to the next manager higher. I've been told by several other managers that I can work reduced hours, and was even told that by the co-manager when I was first hired concerning school. I have made the 4.0 GPA and Dean's List twice in the last year. I am not going to let that drop if I can help it, and everything else be damned. Five years in the Army to get this one shot at college? Yeap, not going to drop the level of effort I put into it regardless. And that is the reason I will give them if they play "well, this is your job" games. I am generally an accommodating and easy going worker at anything, but for the first time in my life, I feel I can afford to stand firm and get fired if need be. Knowing my luck, it'll all come off very well, but I like to beat the war drums a bit in preparation for the worst in case that happens. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2012 I'm the same way. I've learned to prepare for the worst, expect the worst and if it's an acceptable or more than happy outcome, I'm not disappointed. They would be major pricks if they try to make you put WallyWorld over school and education, especially since you're doing so well. And yeah, force them to let you go, don't walk out. If they don't fire you, you work the schedule you feel fit and then they'll be sure to fire you. GET IT ALL IN WRITING whatever the outcome is. and make sure that if you're fired, they make say because you refuse to lower your school hours to work for them. or some shit like that - as long as they look like asses for it. But get it all in writing. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - LKTraz - 08-14-2012 Feast or famine. The problem is that sometimes the feast isn't really a feast but rather just a cram it all in orgy. I haven't had a really good paying trip for a while so for tomorrow I get one. Oooooooook. Fuck of a day and if anything goes afoul I'm fucked and will have to end up sleeping in the truck either in some fucking shithole place or so close to home I can smell it. Run from the shop to get my loaded trailer, then down to S. Plainfield, empty to Boyertown, back to S. Plainfield then empty back, stop to fuel the reefer and truck, take trailer back to the plant then return to the shop and park. Times......(hrs) .25 to plant, 3 to S. Plainfield, 2 to Boyertown, likewise back to S. Plainfield, 2.75 to shop, .25 to plant, .25 to shop. That's 10.5 out of 11 allowed hours of driving. Now I have to accomplish all this in less than 14 hours or I gotta do the Cinderella bit in the truck. Figure 15 mins to do my pre-trip inspection, 15 to grab the trailer, either 15 mins to drop and swap or 1/2 hr to unload live, maybe an hour to load at Boyertown, whatever it takes at S.P. again, 15 mins to fuel, 15 to drop trailer. Add that to drive time and it's 12.75 hrs (Like it ever goes 100% right) I'm betting on eating the full 14 hours. Couldn't get the GOOD one where I run a load to Boyertown, unload that then reload and run to Greensboro, NC, take my 10 hours off at a nice little place just minutes from my delivery, deliver in the morning and run back empty. That run pays better when you break it down to the 2 days it takes and is kinda relaxed and easy compared to the ass busting I'd take doing 2 days like I'm gonna do tomorrow. The biggest pain in the ass is that once I cross from NJ back to PA the first time I have a time stamp from the toll booth and now have to make sure all the times match up. Then i get a second one when I cross back to PA on the final leg. Whatever happens between those toll times has to be right, tight and legal. Oh well......I need the money so I gotta go ahead and beat myself up. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twitchin Kitten - 08-14-2012 You can go a little out of your way and cross into Pa farther up north like on rt 80 or something where there is no toll road, can't you? Or is that going to far out of your way? RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - twisteroo - 08-14-2012 My first day back to work after vacation and I got called in at 4am. I'll take that over LK's trip any day. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread II - Twilla - 08-14-2012 Jesus Christ on a popsicle stick, the A/C broke down at work and the office was 85 fucking degrees all day. Nine hours of sweating and I felt like I had been dipped in baby oil by the time I got home today. I pity anyone that has to actually move around in their job in that kind of temp, I was just sitting at my desk most of the time. |
